Classic rock is not a genre of music. Classic rock refers to a specific rock n' roll music era, around 1963 to 1985. And it was by no means the first. Blacks invented rock n' roll nearly a century before the classic period. Timeline: Old negro spirituals > Black "church music" > R&B > Rock n' roll >(*note)> Classic rock > Rock *It was here that Elvis raped rock n' roll from black people, and poluted the line
i dont see the point of this thread.is it really necessary to bring race into something as beautiful as music?race is irrelevant here.if the musics good who cares who supposedly started what.
I don't think the first white rock 'n rollers raped the genre, they merely explored and expanded it. But I find classic rock unsatisfying and not particulary useful as a genre definition neither though
Its rock music and it is classic (not of the newer generation of rock), so how would you change the classification?
I don't have to change a thing Everything that falls into classic rock generally also falls in a more suiting genre classification that narrows it down right away, from blues to prog to jazz fusion to psychedelic and so on.
All Elvis did was turn it into pop. Rock a billy was already around being done by whites before Elvis.
