How can you people live with yourselves. Keeping animals as pets. Forcing them to live their lives around you. They were born wild in the beginning and should be left that way. And for the ones that work at fish stores, that is an insult to fish, being forced to swim around in circles in a small bowl their whole lives. And you enviromental terrorist who go walking all over Yellowstone and other National Parks for "your pleasure"; think of mother nature, think of all the damage your foot print leaves behind everytime you take a step. Killing millions of organisms with every step.

And to you filthy women who think they have to bath...just think of all those poor fish who smelled really nice until Eve decided she needed to bath...and you just keep carrying on this horrible tradition.

And to that HippyHillbillie thats keeping goats and calves in captive and forcing them to drink milk for another living creature, how rude.

THe normal domestic dog or cat can't live on their own. That's why all these stray dogs and cats that are sold in shelters have an eye out or huge scar across their face or a missing limb. And you can't say that they should be in forested areas where they're not exposed to the dangers of a city, cause they'd imediately become extremely easy prey for other animals; and, of course, there's not enough wooded space for all the domestic animals of the world. Humans mellowed down and domesticated dogs and cats and other animals to the point where they are dependent on another animal to live. That's, obviously, what the word domestic means in the first place. Some animals need us. Yeah, I do feel bad for all the dogs being pulled around on a leash, or a fish only having 6 inches to live its life in.

About all the distruction the step of a foot can do...there's really nothign you can do about it, other than simply stand perfectly still for your entire life. Also, by typing everythign you just typed, that probably killed a whole lot of microscopic organisms.

Actually, they were born stray... would you rather have these cats and dogs run around town... get hit by cars, or aten by homeless people? we're doing them a favor by keeping them off the side of the road.

So i guess this is directed toward me and 1 other person that posts in hipforums? Yer dumb! We work at fish store to HELP people learn how to take care of their fish... Some of those fish are captive bred, you CANT release them to the wild... the others, well by the time they make it from the Amazon River or Lake Tanganiyka to California there is no chance of them going back... the best thing for them is to make them healthy...

No one is putting a 20 lb oscar in a fish bowl.. the only thing we might keep in a small fish bowl is a betta... which in the wild are known to be alive in little tiny pockets of mud. they can breathe air from the surface of the water... all they have to do to survive is have their gills slightly moisened and they can breathe.

Pets would die without proper care... even if a few didn't die, they'd be arrested for disorderly conduct.

The only way to live without killing organims is to photosynthesise. Why don't you pretend to be a plant and stop wasting my damn time.

 

The reason those animals (assuming you are refering to cats and dogs) do live with us is because they are domestic and couldnt survive on their own.... Dogs are also (the majority) very good at protecting us from violators aswell so it can also enhance your safety. Other dogs can actually be trained to help the blind aswell.



About the fish thing well... no comment.



As for the National Parks- the jurisdiction or government have decided to preserve those areas of land so that they are not destroyed. They also are recreational sites, promoting people to enjoy the beauty of nature aswell as appreciate it.



We kill small micro-organisms in various things we preform. You have killed quite a few yourself- walking to your computer to write this, walking to the fish store to make the observation of how they have such little space to live...The lysosomes in your somatic (refering to body I think, if not it is gamete) cells patrol the cytoplasm of your cells and kill and digest any foreign substances (bacteria). When you wash your face, the soap kills tons and tons of organisms on your face. And if you use Listerine or toothpaste you are killing tons of them. Its only nature...



Don't just say that women are the only ones that bathe- have you ever washed your hands? Flushed a toilet? Taken a shower? With respect to the fact that you have the intelligence to write such a controversial post, I would say that you are quite mature yourself and if you have never showered surely there must be a smell that you could not ignore.

I went to a place called Samoa for 2 months last year. It's a country located in the middle of the pacific ocean. Anyhow, it is how you might say an 'undeveloped' country. They don't spade or neuter the dogs and cats, and they run stray and wild all over the country. Many of them are missing limbs from being struck by cars. All of them are skin and bones because they can't find proper food. True, they were living naturally, but they were hardly alive.

What do you do?

people act like humans are a distrubance to all other organisms and are disturbing ecological homeostasis just by existing. here's a news flash, we exist, we are part of the ecosystem, and if we weren't here the disturbance in the homestasis would most likely be pretty bad, as many animals have adapted to live with us. i'm not saying that all the overdevoloping and industrialisation is right, just you're being a little extreme when you say that first off we shouldn't walk in parks, secondly some pets enjoy living with their owners as much as their owners enjoy living with them. i for one own 5 dogs, and they seem pretty damn happy

That's complete bullshit. If someone appreciates the environment know matter who you are I'm sure you would want to be out in nature enjoying it, but this excludes people who are ignorant and only focus on certain acpects or nature and don't pay attention to everything as a whole. I mean like people littering, unneccessary construstion.. really any unneccessary stress on the earth... people who don't feel for all the destruction we create with the earth in my mind aren't really appreciating the earth.... yes we are wearing a small path when were are exploring, but we are also appreciating what we have completely and still trying to preserve it and there is absolutly nothing fundementaly wrong with that. Enjoy the earth while still caring for it. don't let it go to waste because then it becomes one thing. Scenery, nothing but a pretty picture to look at. Enjoy it while you have it.
