i called the unemployment office this morning for my "eligibility review" that they require every 5 weeks and the lady told me i didnt have to call anymore.

she said they were overwhelmed and could no longer continue the requirement.

she said they have over 2500 people using the office with dozens coming in daily to file for their benefits.

the unemployment office is in a county with about 20,000 people in it so you do the math..
she said shes been there 20 years and this is by far the worst she has ever seen it,she used the word frightening to describe whats happening..

oh we have so much to look forward to in 2009...

Same thing at mine, they aren't really hassling me to find a job at all.

Just as long as the wealthy elite can still afford to put a roof over their heads, is all that matters. I guess they no longer require us to work for them.

I had to work on a pawn shops server and its pretty funny (in a sad way) that they are refusing to take anymore items no matter what the price because they are full and nothing is selling.

Yup the economy is getting better just ask the CNN people, lol :D

the hell of it is I WANNA WORK!!
i could get a job out of state in several places right now, i just dont want to have to go out of state to work knowing what i believe is coming in 2009.

i want to be here where i know we are safe no matter what happens in the world around us..the thought of being 1000 miles away and some kind of "national emergency" taking place and me not being able to get back here makes it not worth the risk to me..

I'm in the same boat. I could take a couple different out of state jobs which would require me to travel quite a bit, but there is no way in hell I"m going to do that right now. I've got too much interest here to just pick up and move somewhere right now, and I thought going to Florida for 6 weeks to work was bad.

Besides, it will be spring soon enough, and I've got plenty to keep me occupied here. If I stay stoned and drunk just a bit longer, it will be as if the winter never even happened.

I'm counting my lucky stars because things are good for us currently. Just living in gratitude for all that we have:)

Then again, we live below the poverty level(by choice) but have no gov't assistance. Just live a very simple life.

I didn't even file when I lost my job 6 months ago. I've been lucky. I subbed for a while doing custom millwork in a hotel and did some electrical in a friend's warehouse. Been mostly on my ass for two weeks, and still haven't been paid from one job. But I got some nice things built out of scrap oak and several cases of cabinet filler. Better find something soon though...

I went to a mall yesterday looking for a calendar with sunrise and sunset times.

20% of the stores were vacant most of the rest had 70% off sales and a couple were packing up the entire store and moving out.

I think pigeons will be moving in next year.

Those aren’t homes those are liabilities.

Yesterday economists said it was looking up, now today they claim over 3000 stores will close in the next 5-6 months, that unemployment is over 8%.

Then they said for the upper middle class and rich to spend, spend, spend!

I saw a thing on the news that commercial construction is going well around the Nth Carolina and DC area due to a bunch of FEMA stuff.

I live in the DC area and I get around, I've seen nothing like that.

Though they did clear cut/burn a large parcel 15 miles south in Waldorf just before Xmas... Hmmm...

To be interred in a FEMA camp or to be interred in a FEMA camp in Waldorf, MD.

    I'd choose suicide.
