I was looking at beads on dreadheadhq (one of, if not the only thing the site is good for), and I saw this, and just had to post it here. "The inside diameter of the beads are 5/16" or about .9 of a centimeter. If you have any troubles with them staying on smaller dreads you can always use a dab of super glue. "
Urgh. Can you link to the page where it says that? I absolutely can't stand Johnny shit locks. He has his own twitter advice column. If anyone has twitter please warn against him and his shit wax by using #DreadTip
where he advises people on dreadlocks?! this annoys me that they are the first thing people see when they look up dreadlocks.
Do you think maybe he means to put it in the bead and let it harder while it's not on your hair? Therefore making the hole smaller? Seems like it could work to me.
This = the problem with teh interbone in general. It's full of bullshit rip off artists. Confidence men without any real world skills. It's a good idea not to buy into the first thing you find when you look something up especially when it's corporate bullshit... Whatever though, some people are strange enough to think that putting wax (or superglue eh?) in their hair is a good idea. I can't stand having gel or hairspray in my hair so wax was never even the idea of an option for me.
When was his revision? Bitching about JC is good for him. I don't know if he reads these forums but I know there are other anti-wax forums that he watches and learns to refine his message from them. It'd be nice to give the anti-wax message without hyperbole and berating but people only really respond to messages of fear and it's gotta be loud enough to overpower the allure of the opposition.
Earlier today I messaged him on Twitter saying "WHY are you advising people to use super glue in their dreads when using your .9cm wooden beads? I mean c'mon Glue???" He responded saying that he could see how it could be misconstrued and said he was going to change it. In my opinion it is much worse. I thought he would have said don't use glue or something.
Actually I find that super glue is very beneficial to dreads! brush a few pots of super glue on your roots before a shower and they lock up beautifully in seconds
I've seen a video of that Johnny guy saying "no obviously if you put glue in your hair you won't get dreads" or something along the lines of that.... Why would he say that and then say to put glue in your hair?
