I never talk like this. I am actually a bit stunned this is how our children are learning to speak and write.

Philly's famous cheesesteak house won't serve anyone who won't speak the English language. They have to be able to say wit or witout.

what's funnier yet is the folks who take the time to intentionally mispell every damn word
    bizarre

    I talk like a nerd
    type like a nerd
    look like a nerd
    quack like a nerd

that lingo's too cool for me. Maybe I'll study it from a linguistic point of view sometime in the future :D

Ah, don't you nice duckios ever been kiddos before? Didn't we have our own ways? In the 80s, we had jeans so tight that we had to put them on the bed and hold our breaths. Then our hair made any rooster jealous, blown dried with about a bottle of spraynet - a tornado hairstyle... Then in the 90s rap (uggg) small pups liked it. So what's the shit now - they're developping a sub-language? C'mon, dig it! Roll with the punch... What do you want to be? The heartless adult who can't understand tots? Every generation tries to get the upper one crazy. It's the law of nature... Just do it as the big Nike God would say!

I'll admit I went thru some f'd up stages.

Remember slouchy socks? Leggins? Madonna fans? (such a rebel)

As a parent now my ability to roll with it isn't as round as it once was. I become protective and worry. I want to see my children soar and make something of their lives. As a parent I'm going to be there for them and help them along the way.

I just hope kids who talk like this know the difference when it comes to applying themselves in school/on the job.

They will only go through a phase Peanuts. That's what happened to most of us, to most our parents, and their grandparents. Every generation found the new one fuck up. Now it's piercing. So what? Lots of fishes go through body piercing... Haha... So, you wanted more than one earing. Your mom as a kid wanted to smoke in public - that grandfather of you - hell he was crazy - he was playing (and loudly) those Chuck Berry's vinyls...man was he fucked...

Oh, I wore the slouchy socks, the lace leggings, bubble skirts, jelly shoes, jelly bracelets, eye hurting neon colors, and ugghh, the skyscraper bangs. Never, never again.

You know my family though my Grandfather was more into Willy Nelson and Anne Murray. He went dancing every Saturday night with my Grandmother.

My mom used to get busted all the time for smoking.

Does each phase have to get scarier? If a person walks into a place of business with their face pierced does the person who does the hiring want to dust off a seat for them or would they prefer the person to remove the piercings while they are working?

See, this is one thing about our kids that my husband and I don't see eye to eye with. I'm all for freedom of expression, I think that kids go through phases when it comes to physical appearance, and to just let them as long as it isn't vulgar or inappropriately provocative. I know I went through some phases that made my mother cringe, but she had the same mind frame. She knew I'd grow out of it, and I did.

I've told my husband that it wouldn't bother me one bit if our kids wanted to dye their hair every color of the rainbow or get things pierced, afterall, it's just a form of expression. He, on the other hand, says he couldn't tolerate that. But I always remind him, didn't he used to have super long hair, didn't he have (and still has) tattoos, wasn't he a bad-ass rock and roller, so wasn't that a form of expression as well? [IMG]
