until you used them and almost got murdered for it:
Today I told my friend he could bring his chitlins to a festival with us because it's father's day. Apparently, I'm racist now. I had no idea and apologized. I think he hates me now.

    What are chitlins?

I remember the first time I ever used the word "******," I was 4 or 5. My dad got super pissed off. He always hated the words "******" and "faggot" very much.

chitlins or chitterlings are pig intestines that are a southern/soul food delicacy. i hear people all the time refer to children as "chitlins" in this area. so, i had no idea i was offending anyone. if he can't take my apology, then fuck it.

Now that I think about it, this just seems like a really terrible idea for a thread. It'll just turn into a list of "offensive" words.

Maybe he was offended that you referred to his children as pig guts.

Would he be as offended if you used the term "collard greens"?

that's the point, to make it a list of offensive words, so as not to offend again.

i just thought it was a term of endearment. i guess not. fuuuuuuck it.

When I first started university I used to hang around with a group of friend, one of which was Chinese. We sometimes used to get Chinese takeaways and I was always putting my foot in it and calling them "chinkeys". It was just a word that people used where I grew up, a chinese takeaway was a chinkey. He used to go fucking mental at me and I'd be like sorry! I didn't mean to say it again, it's just I am so used to saying it LOL..
