so i was wondering, what kind of conditions do wild shrooms grow under? do they really have to grow out of cow shit, or would it be possible for them to be growing out of just a normal patch of ground?

the reason i say this is because at a location i found, there is a massive patch of psychedelic-escque looking mushrooms. probably over 40 caps. it looks like there might be two species. one has a lighter brown color with white stems, with the center of the cap getting darker. the other is a darker brown with slightly fatter caps.

are there any identifying features for psychedelic shrooms? i heard that you could identify them with the gills. what was that again?

Keep in mind if you pick and eat the wrong mushrooms you might die.

Psychedelic shrooms do not ONLY grow in cow shit.
There are guides you can find (got some though torrents) that help you to identify them as poisonous, psychedelic, or just edible.

yea, there is a whole library on identification in the wild. so overwhelming. i really doubt that these are actually magic shrooms though, that would be too good to be true. there has to be several ounces out there atleast.

a few quick tips on some easy to identify common species would be nice. maybe then i can rule them out before i spent hours reading up on identification.

I'd help, but I'm no shroom expert
The guides tell you exactly what to look for in the gills, coloring, etc.

I know just enough to know that I would never pick and eat shrooms on my own without having a very experience person with me. I took mycology in college and read about too many people eating deadly mushrooms to risk it. Fungi are tricky. Sometimes they look different depending on season and substrate. Spore Prints, etc are the only way to go in identifying.

there are no quick tips for identifying the proper mushrooms. Mycology is a very elaborate science, and mushrooms require a very long and specific checklist of variables to be identified in order to be sure you won't die, some of which require lab equipment.

    just don't pick wild mushrooms.

Wow I think there may only be around 5 people on this forum that know their ass from an army tank when it comes to shrooms, you people dont have anything good to say other than you may be poisoned. Blue stain is not an indicator!!! there are pukers that stain an awsome indigo.

well one poster said that shrooms can grow on things other than cowshit, well duhhhhhhhhh....

    cow-shit
    horse-shit
    animal-shit
    woodchips
    pulpmill waste
    sawmill waste
    brewery waste
    tree stumps
    compost piles
    grass
    etc..

c'mon dude give us more info, you described an LBM aka Little Brown Mushroom, there are so many lbm's out there it isn't funny.

I aint gonna tell you how to identify a shroom, I used a library, get off the box before your patch melts back into the earth.

Hey man, he asked if they had to grow out of shit.
    I said no.
That was the only part of his question that could be answered with any certainty.
