If you're sittin' down, chillin' and eatin' a sandwich... and somebody comes along and punches you in the back of the head, what are you supposed to do? Sit there and take it? If you strike back, you're most likely in a fight... but self-defense isn't a crime, is it? Yet people get arrested all the time for fighting and they call it "disorderly conduct." I don't understand that one.
One of the positive aspects of this society is that there are easier ways to settle an argument than a fight and people are encouraged to use them. If someone hits ya in the back of the head for no reason... call the po-po or piss on his belongings. You do not need to strike back... he's the one that's getting himself in shit, not you. Ofcourse, if he keeps on swinging, you will have to put him out of his misery... So make sure to have plenty of eye-witnesses who saw that it was self defense. If someone punches you in the back of the head in a dark alley when you are eating a sandwitch... then you better start eating hot pockets instead.
you just get the charge dropped in court for defending yourself. thats happened to a few friends of mine. i've never gotten in trouble for defending myself, then again, the cops never showed up either.
Because their are usually a lot better means to settle conforontations. It's also meant to protect genral public saftey, because riots could break out in large crowds. If a stranger punched me in the back of the head... I wouldn't break any bones.
depends on the arresting cop that shows up what brought on the fight who started it how far each person went and eye witnesses 98% of fights here the police are not called unless by passers by or straight bitches
well it certainly robbs one's freedom of thought! it's a violation of your person, the same as rape would be, even if the physical risks aren't all the same. of course if two people are into it, and the're not tearing up someone who wasn't's stuff, or getting in the way under foot, then, like a lot of things, that's pretty much their own bussiness. but i do think, anyone who seems to think it's all fun and games, seriously needs to understand that not everyone else does! =^^= .../\...
If this happened in school , it because the public school systems have adopted a zero violence policy....and it doesnt matter who started the fight...BOTH parties are responsible
i was never responsible for the times i defended myself in the public school system, and believe me, i got into plenty of fights defending myself then again, that was over 10 years ago when things were different
Yes , this is a new policy in the schools , it doesnt recognize defending oneself , it considers ANY threats , and , or , violent acts committed by both parties as wrong , and punishable...I know , because I went through it with my youngest who was picked on for being Bi...and thankfully is now out of shcool.
i think thats BS, you should be able to defend yourself. thats what i was taught when i was growing up and thats what i'm going to teach my kids - i've never started a fight in my life, but i will end one if i get attacked
This is the public school system here in North Carolina........Im glad i dont have anymore babies ....but I feel for my grandbabies that will be in school
yeah, that's some bullshit. i've seen loads of nasty fights. i've never seen the cops called, except on a spousal abuse case.
seriously, i put a kid in the hospital while defending myself...nothing happened to me. he's lucky i didn't smash his head into the wall for what he tried doing to me
no doubt. my baby sister got in trouble for fighting a lot. people just couldn't stand her mouth. but the bitch could back it up, you know? but she was nearly never suspended. i think she was suspended once for beating up the school secretary's daughter. that's about it. and that's southern california 3 years ago.
Of course a person has a right to defend themselves. Anyone who says wait for the police has never really had to defend themselves or someone they care about. Calling the police helps a lot in situatitions before violence starts. But If things do get out of hand, you can either feel powerless or solve it.
by the time the police show up, unless they happened to be there for the start, your ass is a bloody, moaning pulp heading to the hospital. i know better than to wait for help.
