subMedia the people who brought you the video 'Join the Resistance Fall in Love' have once again turned to Crimethinc material for inspiration. This time it is a video of the essay 'Why I Love Shoplifting From Big Corporations'. Makes me proud to be a shoplifter (*sniffle holding back tears*)

This video along with several others is available on subMedia's DVD Zine called Molotov. The Sabatour people should check this DVD out for possible use in screenings at their events.

If you must shoplift, PLEASE consider the mega-huge conglomo-corps like Wal-Mart. I'm the retail manager for a very small local company (bellydance studio). My boss told me that not long before they hired me (it's a newly created position; I'm the first actual retail manager they've had), at least $1000 in merchandise disappeared. Small, mom-and-pop companies simply can't afford that kind of thing. Please don't steal from them! Thanks! :)

every inch of wal*mart is under survailance. But it is possible to shoplift there. The lost profits suffered be wal*mart through theft are more than the GNP of some countries.

I've never stolen anything in my life, but if I were that kind of person, i'd only steal from places like walmart.

    Small businesses need respect.

It still puts people out of jobs..you don't effect the company because they just lay people off..and then who wins in the petty little game ?.

Stealing is stealing. It makes absolutely no difference if you steal from Walmart or some mom&pops shop. It is so wrong to take what is not yours. Your aura looses. You loose. To hell with the corporations. You loose. Your soul, your integrity. It is wrong - plain and simple.

Stealing is the American way. It's what our country was built on.

...just because our country was built on it - doesn't make it right.

It is so against universal law. Those who stole and those in power still stealing more wealth and power will receive their just dues in accordance to universal/natural law.

No judgements here - I'm all for individual soveirgnty... individual choice. But with those comes accountability.

Your individual conscience knows right from wrong.

Well then lets just trust the good judgement of shoplifters to distinguish which companies are "guilty".

Not true. Walk in sometime (leave your wallet in the car) and look for security cameras. There are surprisingly few, and even with items like CDs, that are watched, you can pick one up and walk to the grocery section or something and pocket it. Employees are trained not to harass you unless they're 100% sure you stole something, and if the alarm goes off when you're walking out they aren't allowed to stop you.

I can't believe you people are actually advocating stealing. STEALING IS WRONG. It doesn't matter who or what you are stealing from it's still wrong, even if you're fighting "evil capatilist corporations." By the way Kilgore, I'm not sure what you meant when you said that our country was based on stealing, please clarify.
