Maybe God is really female. I mean think about it, of course the men who wrote the bible would say God was a male. They are male and then, females were concitered below males (and still are for some). Or maybe God it like a snail. They are not female, nor male. They are like both. That makes since to me. He/she/it caould be anything, or all. Or maybe god is male. And his lover is mother nature. Or maybe God is a she and her lover in mother nature? Before you have some rude comment twords me, please try to be a loving person and understand where I am coming from ok? I am only 12 and I am trying to find my religion/what I believe. what do u think?
i think god is both. considering that the only time human beings, made in his image, can produce new life is when they come together. seems logical to me that god, creating all sorts of new life, must be both in one. so i use "him" outta convenience.
That's what I was thinking I'm of pagan persuation, and consider the Gods a symbol of masculinity in the world, and the Goddesses the female part. They are equals and exist in harmony. As for Christian God, should it exist (and I'm not convinced) then it would probably just be a force or sorts, encorporating male and female, gender neutral. Good luck in your quest
yes. Thats beautiful. Have you ever noticed how anger always comes out in religion? I love love. And religion should be somthing of love not hate...
God is beyond all such things, and she is all of it. we wish to love this ultimate pure source of creative energy that designed the evolution of energy we all see. So those of us that follow a path that includes loving God, (Buddhists might call this the Buddha nature, the ultimate reality, call the harmony of the universe karma, essentially they are talking about God in a different way, for remember "god" is just a word, a concept, that which we seek is beyond all words and the true communication of this reality comes from the heart!) So... we love and worship god in the form that most appeals to us. “Whenever a devotee wishes, with unwavering faith, to worship me in a particular form, I take that form.’ – Bhagavad Gita 4.1 So, we see God as the mother, like we are a baby in her arms, she loves us without conditions, total understanding, she knows what is best... we are depedant on her... She will teach us! When we see that, when we fall into that, God, with all her love, takes the form that most appeals to us, and plays with us... God is playful, not all uptight, you must worship me like this... You can worship God in whatever form you want... going towards God, you soon see that GOd is all form, and beyond all form, form and formlessness! 'And when he sees me in all and sees all in me, Then I never leave him and he never leaves me. And he, who in this oneness of love Loves me in whatever he sees, Wherever this man may live, In truth, he lives in me...' Bhagavad Gita, VI:30,31
If there is a god, a sort of Ground of All Reality, it would be beyond sex. In fact, it would be beyond any form of duality, so it would have no features (every feature, every thing, is defined by it's opposite). How we label, think about, and even sex our idea of god is just a reflection of us...not of god.
Even though you made that part of 'Rewriting the Bible' up - I wonder if you apply that theory to Moses too? Just curious? For the Record - Christianity does not view God as a 'Man' or 'Woman' even though God is often communicated as 'Paternal' and the 'Masculine' context is used in the word choices. When taking on a human nature - it just so happened God came as Jesus who had a Male body. This has very little to do with anything since Jesus himself had very much 'Masculine' and 'Feminine' characteristics. In some particular scriptures God (in particular as Holy Spirit) is given 'Feminine' context. In a famous teaching Jesus declares there are 'Neither Male nor Female' when refering to the Spiritual Kingdom his followers were part of. Obviously not saying Genitals had disappeared but stressing that in Spiritual terms - Gender is not 'Who we are'. Im not saying many critics are spiritually immature but - even our Sunday School kids simply comprehend that God is not really 'A Man' in the human sense. Its funny when people seek to 'Refute' or 'Challenge' beliefs that even Christian children have easily gone beyond.
I think the question still remains, what is God....For Christians, it came in the form of a man, Jesus, and for the Greeks who had many, had Gods, and Goddesses. What if God has no form at all?...Just a motionless, shapeless, indecernable being. Toil on that one...
In my tradition actually God is a male and a female. God is both Radha and Krishna... therefore male and female... look at the Krishna art calender advertisement here... they are God.
Is it you that figures that everyone figures that god is male? Or is this a fact? and if its not factual, then ask yourself if you require this notion to exist in your mind. For, if you "know" or believe something that is not, then you cannot really know.
I think there is a Father God and a Mother God. and maybe they are both parts of the same entity. there is enough room in this universe for anything to be possible. whatever is true for you, is true. i've never felt entirely comfortable with the idea of a strictly male Godhead. sometimes I feel more comfortable speaking to a female.
In Judaism God is neither male nor female, but contains aspects of both. That is why in the creation story Adam was created as complete, and then separated into two separate being. God is One. But we don't believe the image thing has anything to do with physical images. Maimonides goes over the actual language used in a number of places referring to God, like this image case and where it's in specific, almost human ways, showing that they really are figurative, in his book Guide for the Perplexed. For us God is immaterial, totally devoid of form, having existed before the creation of time and space, thus not being limited to these things. That is why idolatry is such a big deal, the portrayal of God as a thing in space. The language in Hebrew for God is mainly masculine, but there are some feminine references. It's more a matter of needing to say something, although certainly the language has been shaped by the authors of the bible. But there's a lot of different theology about God in Judaism and the nature of God. There's a lot of flexibility in understanding the nature of HaShem.
God is a notion, an idea. Nobody can say that god 'is' and truly know this for a fact. 'God' is just a thought, like all thoughts, so we could label all thoughts 'God'. We don't create or shape our thoughts, they are always there, waiting to spontaneously occur. If anything, we let our thoughts shape us. If we let ourselves become our thoughts, then we are attempting to become God. We don't realize that God is constantly flowing through us, allowing us to percieve the world. See the world through Gods eyes, don't let God become your world.
