why do many people not like phish?

it is hard to respond to a phish-hater without getting arrogant on their ass

 

probably because of fans like you.

people have a right to an opinion......

not everyone can like a band....... and good thing, cuz if everyone did, the world would be boring..... and then I would really hate phish, because everyone likes them.

 

if you don't like music because the fans, then your a dumbass. but anyway. alot of people don't like PHISH, because its a very indepth music. its not pop. so alot can't get down with it. i personally love the band...they fill every void that every other band leaves untouched....

and then theres cases like my brother...who just doesn't want to admit to liking PHISH. i seem him tappin along to the song, swaying his head....and i call him on it, and he just says "Phish sucks".....which blows my mind because two minutes earlier he was jammin out to it....

 

phish has at least one song for everyone.

 

that's pretty much it....I know professed phish haters who admit to liking at least one song of theirs. and I like phish but I definitely don't like ALL their songs.

 

thats definatly true, theres a lot of phish that i dont like but theres some that i do. for instance, the first time i heard "Brian and Robert" i fell in love with the song.

everything i said was true. the general mass of the world population listens to simple music in 4/4 timing, usually in C. POP music is for the masses. its simple and brain dead. PHISH plays orchestral, psychedelic, bluegrass..etc...these are genres that don't have followings amongst the MTV crowd.

and also, if you don't like music, because of the FANS, then you are a dumbass. to not like MUSIC because of the other people who like it is INSANE.....

well, to me, a band loses its charm when they become overly popular..... Im rather selfish in that regard.....

but to call me a dumbass is completely uncalled for........ and another reason why most phish fans suck....... Im not saying all, just saying most.

i dig phish. but i went to my first show without any expectations. i really started to not like them as much, and not enjoy thier shows as much around 1998. but thats cus i expected them to be as good as before then.
i used to dig the cheese alot too, untill about 2000. i expected them to sound as good as they used to. i always liked the dead. but then again, i never heard jerry play in the 70's or else i would probably feel the same way. its all about expectations.
i can see how for some phish just dosent cut it, but icant see how arational music lover could say that they werent good.

I always felt I was blessed with a healthy dose of musical schizophrenia...sometimes Phish is an enjoyable placebo. The medicine works and tend not to dissolve my thought in the hows and whys, just digest the rippling intoxications.

 

yes people in these forums, do listen to many types of music. but i never said anything about the them. i was talking about the MASS population. and i'm not too worried about hearing them on a Classic Rock station, everytime I hear the dead on the radio....i get excited as hell, because maybe the radio-listening-zombies might get a kick in the ass from some real good tunes.

AND ONCE AGAIN: to not like MUSIC, because of the other PEOPLE who listen to it...makes you a DUMBASS, again DUMBASS...! i like music for music. yes it can be a buzz kill when your trying to dance and everyone else is sitting down. but that didn't stop me at the BB KING show, where every person was dressed up and sitting down. i let my FREAK FLAG fly, why? because i don't give a shit. i just love music. thats why i'm at Music School, its all i want to be involved in. when i saw the ROLLING STONES, i was surrounded by my father and his business associates, but i let my hair down and danced my ass off....(i was sober for anyone who will attribute that to intoxication)....so you all go off to your small shows, and hide from the world. i'm gonna go live it...because i've seen, and i want to see more.

i love phish...but you see, i don't think music is meant to be argued about. music is made for enjoyment, entertainment and many other things. it isn't made for people to get mad at each other over. i don't see why someone can or can't like a band and other people just not worry about it.

 

I LOVE PHISH. I have introduced many to their music (live ofcourse). And about half of those people hated it.

Drumminmama was right in one of her earlier replies: "musical masturbation". someone else called it "musical schizophrenia".

Those kinds of jams are hard to deal with especially if someone has a head full of acid while listening.

I'm not saying everybody. definately not me but there have been moments at concerts when I was tripping balls that I have hated Trey for doing some of the things he does sometimes (and Mike a couple of times). But moments later he always made it OK with something else that he did. sometimes that moment came to late though. anyways.

that has never been the case with Cheese (except for Valley of the Jig) and Widespread.

to sum up yes I can see why some people dont enjoy Phish.

 

Well Considering The Hype Compared To The Dead I Was Let Down By Phish
But I Dont Hate Them , And There Not Even Together Anymore !
