Why do hippies have long hair?

well i've had alotta people ask me why i, or hippies in general, have long hair. and i really can't come up with a straight answer, i tell them that it's a way to refuse conformity and rules set by society.

 

now ur going with the dictionary definition. not all hippies have long hair. my hair is more wide than long because thats just the way it grows.

shit man when people give me a hard time about growing my hair long i just say "hey, i am lucky to have had my hair for this long so i am just letting it do what it wants...i dont want to make it mad and have it leave".......i should come up wiht a name for my hair cause im sure they are getting mad that i am calling htem a "it"

 

Well I know my personal reasons for having long hair is because I don't have to worry about cutting it,I like the way I look with it,and it seems more natural to me.

As for why hippies might have long hair who knows but i'd be inclined to ask the same question as to why some people choose short hair over long hair aswell.
