I was looking for a "hippie job" working for cool people that were like-minded and didn't judge me and did something positive to earn money I must have googled "Hippie Classifieds" or something Why did you originally join or what drew you in?
Googled "Fulltime Barefooters" And This Was One Of The Sites It Brought Up, Lurked For A Few Months And Then Took The Plunge In April 2007, The Rest As They Say Is History.... Cheers Glen.
I was an active member of a music-related forum, i was a mod there too, then they started making a billion rules ("u'll be banned if u type the f word" and such) so i got tired of it. I think i googled "conversation forum" and HF was one of the first links i got. I had trouble adjusting at first though, considering the downside of having next to no rule is that on here people attack u out of nowhere all the time, but in the end it's better than constant censorship.
Someone I used to talk to wanted to troll this place, I joined up with him but didn't bother joining in the trolling and hardly bothered with posting. Then I forgot about this place for a long time. I refound it after I joined the Shroomery because there's a few people that post on both boards. Now I'm here more than the Shroomery because it can turn into a real sausagefest over there sometimes.
I was probably googling hairy or hippie porn, chicks with a bush....something like that. I'm not proud, but that's pretty much how it happened.
I originally join in '04 for the same reason I'm here now- To find people who are trying to start sustainable off-grid communal living arrangements. Since then I've had three or four handles, because I just can never remember my logins after spending a year or two at one of them.
Looking for a fun place where people would "get" me. IRL, most people don't. I'll never forget my mother a few years ago (I'm in my 40s) quietly speaking "You're a hippie?" and then not knowing what to say. I hate labels, but if you're gonna label me, then I wear the Hippie label with pride. I think my mom (at the time) associated "Hippies" with the way someone dressed. Not sure what she thinks about the label now, but I've educated her in things she should have educated ME in. I was born too late. I should have been born in the 40s or 50s! Mom was born in the 40s but led a very sheltered life. And she sheltered me until I was 16 and I stopped letting her, although she still tries to. It's an UNhip mom thing.
I was on another board that was falling apart. One of the only one to stay sane at the time was Mattinvegas and he sent me a link to the forum and the Kitchen Table. I joined before the change over to the new boards. I think it was a good thing.
i came here for the drugs. there are people who have been here as long or longer than i have and still talk incessantly about drugs all the damn time and i'm just like wow get a life. "drug nerds" people who enjoy talking about drugs just as much or more than doing drugs.
i really don't remember how i found the place. i think i joined just because i saw a conversation that i felt compelled to comment on or something, with no real intention of coming back after that day.
I blame Hippy Hillbilly. :cheers2: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=287507 http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?p=4580422#post4580422 p.s. if anyone has the pdf I had linked in my 2nd post I'd very much like another copy or a valid url to it.
Back when I was 19 and going through my flowerchild phase, I surfed the web for a "Hippie chat" of some kind, and I found these forums! lol 3 years lata and i'm still a hipchatter!
