Why am I so often lost in my dreams?

I've been journalling my dreams since 2009, and I find that there is one recurring theme: I'm frequently lost. I may be in a hospital that suddenly becomes a hotel or a shopping centre.

I'm originally from Canada, and I have plenty of dreams that start there. I'll be walking through familiar neighbourhoods in Toronto, turn a corner, and find myself in the States or in Asia (I'm not Asian and I've never been to Asia) or some unknown spot.

    What's up with this?

I have deja vu in my dreams. they feel so familar and as if they have happened but i cant actually recall anything. I found out recently that people can control there dreams sometimes. (lucid dreams) i do it sometimes on accident. oh and i have dreams about the same themes to. i also have recurring dreams. but to me dreams are my escape to another world. it's the chance to get away from the real world if you know what i mean:)

being lost is probably a symbol for uncertainty in the "real" world. i wouldn't worry about being lost though, because in the dream world you won't die from lack of food or sleep, so wander around and enjoy the scenery to your heart's content. back in the waking world, uncertainty is just how life is. diversity being its nature, can though, be a source of reassurance, in both.

For me - Lost depicts uncertainty (be it in love, work or ethos)
It could be you mind putting into vision a thought or thoughts of the mind
    :)
