me and my cousin were havin this conversation the other day. i dont know one celeb of this time, that my children will remember or my childrens children.. yano i know legends from years ago, like elvis bob marley marlyn monroe, audrey hepburn etc. etc.. . .and i still listen to elvis and bob... but i cant think of one person, nowadays that will be still known in years.. maybe beacue people become famous to easily these days, and there are too many "celebs" ... i mean, throw sum people in a house for a few weeks, hav cameras stalk them, and then theyre "celbrities"... . .wat do you think.. anyone of this time legendary??
I like a lot of the older legends myself, and don't listen to THAT much by current artists. People that I think could become (or may already be) timeless would be: The Eagles Celine Dion Elton John Carlos Santana Enya and while he may not be "my type" there's always Willie Nelson. love, mom
Our generation will have it's legends but I totally agree that celebrities have almost become disposable. Reality TV can make a celebrity out of anyone (including other washed-up celebs) and gives fame a little less credibility anymore. Fortunately, I don't think that'll prevent those who are actually worthy of legendary status from being remembered for what they are.
Famous actors and famous rap/r&b/hip hop artists will be remembered by the masses. Like you said its hard to call these people legends when compared to Marley, Garcia, Elvis, etc... How is Bono our time's Hendrix haha
For music, it will be (love them or hate them) Eminem, Green Day, Jay Z, Linkin Park, Beyonce. Assuming that the bands stay together and no one retires or is killed or something.
I think death would be a good career move for some modern musicians! Most artists who record today might be better off for folks to wonder what might have been instead of what actually does get put out....
Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Johnny Depp, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Boyz II Men, Guns N' Roses(or Axl Rose primarily), Metallica, and so on, so forth...
I wish Bob Marley wasn't a legend. Hulk Hogan...lol...probably. I think "rock gods" such as Bruce, Freddy etc.
Isn't everybody and everything a "legend" in Australia? You're a legend, mate. Naw, you're a legend, mate. (Ok, I get my ideas from Australian soaps)
I can't wait to see all the kids from our generation when they are 70+, trying to get down to a bunch of people rappin about their wrist watch.. be like oh yeah that fool dead.. but he still got one big ass chain!! now Im a fan of hip-hop.. underground and old-school.. at least they dont talk about their bling-bling all the time.. and make good beats from old soul and shit.. Honestly I dont think there are any legends now that people remember.. I was going to say Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Dave Matthews.. Mostly the ones that made more than 10 albums, in the last three decades which isnt many, but all the legends in 50 years are going to be the ones from the 50s-60-70s- still
A lot of people are legendary to different people. Take underground music for instance --- some of those artists (rappers, folk and indie musicians) have been out there grinding and putting in work for years, and it pays off for them. They have a loyal fanbase that will consider them legends for the rest of their lives, but to the general public, they're nothing. I used to think we had run out of incredible people. They're all dead. But then I realized they just went underground because nobody cares enough anymore.
