I am sure there are other mamas and papas on here who make hoops...... What kinda tubing do you use, which works best for you... I used some 3/4 inch for the one in the picture but it was too floppy so I made it smaller and gave it to my daughter. I was thinking about going and getting some 1 inch irrigation tube, would be heavier and more sturdy for me I think...

on larger diameter I've used 1 1/2 and no less than 1 inch.
We also frame our circular paintings (stretched cotton spandex) on 2 inch, I whipped one up in 2 inch, and it was fun for a couple days, but it's kind of like using a medicineball for basket ball.

oh sweet jesus where do you get tubing???

i love hooping, but i only have one and its just a smidge too small (stops right below mt bellybutton). they're so expensive when you buy them from other people!

i got the irrigation pipe/tube stuff from home depo or lowes last time but theres gotta be a cheaper place round here, just havent looked. The 3/4 is too floppy for me, so I gotta go buy 1 inch soon.

I always thought this would be fun to do, but how do you put them together and what do you wrap around the out side. Do you guys put anything in the inside, those where my favorite when I was little, and still are

What kind of piping are you using? The kind of plastic, the thickness of the tube wall and the diameter of the pipe all affect the stiffness.

my hunny makes them out of 1" or 1 1/2" poly-tubing. we've been experimenting with various noise makes inside them. i like the swish-swish sound from the dry rice the best! :D

You know that's not what she meant. Why do you post like that? I see you all over the place with a non related, non helpful post.

If only I knew how to hula hoop...my life would be so much better. How do you guys get them round enough, though? I've been wondering that this entire post. Circles are really hard to make with most things, is irrigation tube easier?

thing about these hula hoops are, they cost a dollar, they are cheap plastic, they break, thebstaples in them rust............. they are not personalized at all, i guess you could personalize them but I would rather make my own, you can add water to them to make them heavier and it gives you more of a workout when you hoop. and the dollar store ones are so small I cant hoop with tem so i have to make adult sized hoops for myself
