I just found an unsigned handwritten letter with the title "Who is Jesus?" in a blank envelope in my mail box.
The letter appears to be from Jehova's witnesses or whatever they call themselves..describing in detail why Easter is celebrated.

You'd think in a godless country like Russia you wouldn't receive shit like that.

Okay I actually bothered reading it.
It says: Do you know what Jesus is doing right now?
After he died he god made him Czar of heaven and soon his power to put an end to our suffering and destroy those who cause our suffering. Those who believe in Jesus will live in paradise.

    Busy guy, Jesus is. :D

    Communism. More accurately, soviet socialism.
Few people in Russia are believers, which makes America look like the Vatican sometimes.

There is a guy that thinks Jesus was a mushroom . I am not saying that I believe this , but he thinks that people in that time would get high on a mush room and use the name of Jesus as a cover or code name . I will post some links as I can find them . desert rat

Don't you have jehova's witnessess in your country? Well perhaps you can miss them easily, in fact I rarely see them in the netherlands (which may seem godless but isn't neither :D) but they're present alright, I even had a jehova's witness in my history classes (intriguing guy, I liked him a lot to my suprise). I'm not suprised at all that they're present in Russia too despite that there is already an orthodox church :p

Jesus is in varying proportions a symbolic figurehead for belief.

Nobody knows. There was the whole two decades of absence where nobody knew what he was doing.

Only two decades? :p And are you implying we can't know who he was because we didn't know what he was doing in those decades?

    Atleast.

I suspect we can try and see who he wanted us to believe he was. I suspect we can try and see who they wanted us to believe he was. We won't really know who he was if we don't really know the vast proportion of his life.

What is a 'hipster' - are they for or apposed to gay marriage and abortion?

And this much we can say for certain. Unless the claim be made that he is a living person?

The hipster context in this case is mind altering drugs mixed with an obsession of Jewish scripts and ideas.
For or against gay marriage and abortion was hardly a concern at the time Jesus became king of the heavens. :sunny:
