my son want dreads he is 2, thinks he is 15 LOL he had a mohawk and it grew out so now he wants something different I think... My daughter on the other had wants nothing to do with em HAHAHA we tease her about putting dreads in to get a rise out of her HAHA but would never do it since thats not what she wants....... if your kids have dreads I wanna see pics.......
well i dont have any kids yet, thank god because im only 16 haha. but i hope my kids want them. because there is nothing cuter than a mom walking around with her child and they both have dreads. i think they look adorable! i wanna see pics too! peace~
My oldest had been asking for them for at least a year before I caved. Kinda hard to deny her dreadlocks when I have purple hair! LOL (i do not have dreads, and really have no clue where she got the idea.) She is nearly five years old. Photo in my sig is one month or so after backcombing them, most days they really do not look that good.
What do you mean most days they dont look that good! they look beautiful, plus after a while they bee really nice
I meant to say, most days her hair doesn't look as nice as it does in that photo. But I had to snap a few photos last night, after washing and twisting/rolling and putting more beads in her hair... (she wanted to see what the ponytail looked like and my camera was closer than a mirror - LOL)
i wonder what her teacher thinks or like what the kids at school think, because i know at that young of an age kids can be kind of mean. peace~
we homeschool and all the kids in our very large homeschool group (I think we're over 60 families strong now) think her hair is way cool. She's the sort of kid who everyone wants to be friends with, nobody has ever made fun of her, not even the neighbor kids who can tend to be quite mean at times. She's not the sort to let it bother her what anyone else thinks, what she thinks about it is what matters.
Mamaboogie, you little girl's dreads are adorable! She is so cute! My daughter has really long hair (down past her bum) and she wants dreads. Her father and I don't really want to put them in her hair as she goes to public school and if she ever came home with lice we'd have to cut her beautiful long tresses. Maybe when she gets a little older we'll think about it, but for now we deceided against it.
her hair is absolutely gorgeous............ she is soo adorable.... i saw a few little boys at smilefest last year with dreads and a lil baby at the mall the other day, his were so cute, they were sticking up everywhere lol
I took my nephew to the play place at the mall a few months ago and there was a little boy with dreads playing...he came up to me and goes..."HEY! you got hair like mine!"...so he touched mine and I touched his. He thought it was so cool that a grown up had hair like his. It was cute.
number one rule - never underestimate the intelligence and perceptive powers of children. And when they are that young, they never forget anything!
exactly, my parents used to take me to virginia beach in the 80's and I saw punks with mohawks and purple hair and spikes and stuff and became obsessed LOL I wanted to spike my hair for sooo long when I was little but could never talk em into it
i think i said this in another post but I am totally for the expressionism that my kids want to show to the world. I let them make their own decisions about clothes, hair, food... it lets them become little adults and that they start making decisions earlier in thier lives. I love the open parenting of funkyphresh and mamaboogie, letting thier children express themselves. Children should be nurtured and loved, not held back by what society dictates. I know that my children are loved a lot and are allowed to be open and free and feel proud that they were able to make up their own minds not have an adult do it for them!! my oldest son has dreads, and my daughter who is a year younger wants dreads as well!! My old man has had his hair dreaded for 16 years!!
dang, when i have kids, theyll prolly want green hair and mohawks and dreads, and by gad, im letting them have them, ill prolly have dreads when i have kids, so i couldnt say no when mommy has them lol, oh gosh lil kids with dreads are so cute, dagum!
if my daughter wants them, i'll let her have 'em. Don't know abou ther dad, but I agree with peacedaisy. Let your kids express themselves.
I don`t have children, but off the top of my head I can think of two of my friends with dready kids. Rise Aurora Blue is 5 years old and has the cutest lil blonde dreadies past her shoulders, her mom has dirty blonde long locks. Bastion is six and has shoulder length dirty blonde fattys, both his parents have long beautiful locks. I love seeing little kids with dreads and mohawks and freaky colored hair. All the freaky people make the beauty of the world.
