For those of you who do not know what it is it's a website or musicians, producers and djs to share music, put their tunes up for download or to be sold and check out other artists music as well. It's a great way to get noticed by record labels and shit so if you make tunes then I suggest making one. If you do have one however, post that shit up! :2thumbsup:

Awesome shit you have there Kamran, very chill. I was just wondering what program you use to make your music? I currently play guitar and bass guitar but I would like to get into making my own electronic music. I tried fruity loops once and it was fucking confusing as hell! What do you suggest?

FL is probably one of the easier programs out there. i suggest downloading it illegally... and then looking up guides and tips on youtube to help you start. it takes practice and time just like an instrument.

    ps.. sweet tunes

Bah! It's too much work! I've had the actual tutorial guide but I get so fucking overwhelmed with all those buttons and shit to push that I forget which does what, lol. I guess I'm too old school. I think if I had someone to actually sit with me and help me it would be easier for me to understand.

just choose an instrument, make a pattern, and then make another pattern that goes over that one, and so on. just practice by making short beats and then you can arrange them into a song, pattern by pattern. one step at a time, you could do it, and the youtube guides are almost as good as having someone sit down with you, showing you everything

That's what my brother did for me on Fruity Loops which is why I know my way around it somewhat now. If I had any explanation skills I would help you but I'm shit at instructions. If you decide to get FL let me know though so I can at least try :) I've only been producing for five days now and it seems that people like my stuff so I'm sure you'll be fine because you actually have a musical background and presumably actual talent :2thumbsup:

And if you make a soundcloud, let me know because I never get tired of hearing other people's music :D

Kamran, journey into the soul land is VERY GOOD. I love the atmosphere you've created.

I have a soundcloud account, but only 1 song on there. It's not a great song, but it was one of my first I created in FL studio...

I suggest entering your bank account and robbing you of the money that fruity loops costs to buy. Its almost exactly the same suggestion you are making. What gives you the right to advocate criminal behaviour and steal the work of people far more intelligent and far more hard working than you just because you see it on sale. Just because its there dont mean u can steal it. Its exactly the same as shoplifting that you are suggesting

True, but you have to give hackers credit. They allow the software to be introduced to the n00b in a way that allows them to learn and get a taste of the software but not get the full benefit of an updatable legal version. Eventually they either get sucked in and end up buying the full version or they abandon it entirely but at least from the consumers standpoint they didn't waste any money. It would suck to buy a several hundred dollar piece of software that you have no idea how to use, try it, and then find out you don't like it or won't use it as much as you thought. I have spoken in person with many signed, touring producers who once used or still used a few pieces of cracked software. They understand sometimes you just dont got a couple hundred bucks to drop on that VST or 800 bucks for ableton suite 8. Personally I think a lot of music prodcution software is overpriced and not worth the bugs and glitches that make them seriously flawed.

For Cubase there is actually an advantage for users who crack, since you don't have to have their clunky USB dongle plugged in hogging up your ports and CPU. the legit version totally went overboard on piracy prevention and jacked up the software's use of CPU resources all for their stupid dongle. what a fail.

Protools. Why pay for this? Nearly every professional studio has a copy of this as it is a standard for industry recording. The developer isn't hurting for money here. I wouldn't shed a tear over a pirated version lost to these guys, they are rolling in the bank.

Ableton I love to death..but don't get me started on how buggy it is and the updates actually can fuck you over. There are people who lost a shitton of CPU resources by upgrading to latest version 8.2.2 and the Ableton staff still hasn't fixed it. Many professionals still use early versions of 8 and even version 7.0 because of the problems. Wups there goes the insentive to pay for that one. So much useless shit besides sampler, and a few extra libraries come with suite 8 to hardly justify the 800 dollar price tag.

Reason ver 5.0 is probably the best value and the one that you would be a total dick not to pay for. Seriously If you pirate this one you are a herpes infected asshole. Propellerhead made such a solid piece of software that is self-contained and a ridiculously low price. No bugs or glitches. No dongle. Nothing justifies pirating this one. Save up and move out of mommy's basement if it's too expensive.

Reaper is an amazing value as well, so is Renoise. The rest are so expensive, that unless you are a commercial artist making tunes for a living, it doesn't justify dropping that much money on glitchy software that you are going to painstakingly learn on for months before you make anything worth releasing for listening.

Learn on hacks and cracks, then when you get the skills and start really crankin tunes, pay your dues to the software developers and get your shit legit.
