What if you had to save someones life who was bleeding to death and needed to take them to the hospital and the only vehicle available was manual? Think about it........kind of scary!

    i can drive manual...
i learned on the hardest manual vehicle ever... my VW bus.... that shit is work to drive. it has a 2 foot gear shift and no power stearing... now i have no problem driving a manual car, it is so easy compared to my bus.

True! I'm sure you could drive one in an emergency as well lol, just joking with ya, really it is very simple, I mean shit I learned it during the test like I said a few posts ago. It just comes really easy to you if you know some stuff about how a transmission works

at the moment I dont drive anything , I got rid of two cars and a van now walk everywhere , but I can drive a manual , I used to have a automatic merc and I once had a automatic citreon which I gave to my sister .

Anyway the citreon went mad and drove across the road and wrote off a new suv then drove back across the road and ran into a council office causing thousands of pounds of structural damage .....and all this was caused because it was a automatic transmission it was lucky no one was killed .

so thats put me of automatics a bit if I was to buy another car I would prefer a manual

I can drive manual, prefer it, and do it daily (love my little nissan).

I think there would be fewer accidents if more people drove manual transmission vehicles. It's a more conscious experience.

Why?! It's so simple, you put your left foot down on the clutch, put the stick into the proper gear judging by how fast you are going, take you left foot off the clutch and press the gas. It is almost as easy as having sex :)

automatic in traffic. one less distraction. but out in the boonies a stick is really uselfull.

i've always prefered to live out in the boonies, so of course nearly every vehicule i've owned had a stick. not a supergofast stick but a truck type stick with a granny low, or several of them.

living in a damd city as i do now. well it IS a city as far as I'M concerned. it is bigger then 10,000. more like 400,000 or so. no matter how much it lacks redeaming amenities and trys to pretend not to be. i prefer not to own or drive a damd car at all.

the only way i'd want one is if i did live someplace where i genuinely needed it.
and then i'd want something like a 53 chevy pickup (forrest green) with one of those old unpainted aluminum tops to go with it. (and maybe one of those little aluminum teardrops to pull behind it). it would of course have a granny low four speed, with maybe pto and 4wd and warn hubs, and of course mudd and snow meats. and a highlift jack and blocking to put under the wheels when diggin out. and spare everything for long expiditions out in the boonies where the nearest parts store, if you can even still get parts for that old 235 inline ohc six, is more then a hundred miles away.

i'm definately with the ride a bike, or at least a battery electric 'scoot'. i think one of those would be totaly cool though, bunch. cars have no place in the damd city. without them citys would not be half so damd fucked as they are. (and neither would so called 'western' so called 'civilization')

    =^^=

Yea, I dont use my car to go from one side of my city to another, unless its really late and there are not many vehicles out, or if I have to transport something. But I do work about 45 minutes (with luck ;) ) outside of Philadelphia so I have to drive daily out out and then back into center city because the nearest train station to my actual work center is about a 15 minutes drive, plus I have to drop my son off the days of the week when I have him at this daycare, which is on the other side of this town.

I know how to drive stick. I think it's fun actually. My husband taught me how (thank goodness he has a lot of patience!) I used to drive a gorgeous black Ford mustang GT that my hubby bought me back when we only had our oldest son. Man, I felt pretty hot driving that thing, it growls like a mean cat, a throaty roar. I always got a lot of attention driving it, which was fun, and guys were always stopping me and asking about the car. I felt like a bad ass driving it. Hehehe!

But then we had the twins, the Mustang became my husband's and I got a minivan to haul all the kids. :& Oh well, such is life.
