Hey all! Ive had my dreads for 3 weeks now. And everything is going swimmingly other than this one thing that has tarnished my journey. My hair when it was undreaded was very thick, and therefore i used to lose a lot of hair naturally. But now its dreaded it doesnt fall out it stays, and now the whole of the top of my head is full of white ends of hair, i think they are called folicles or something, im not sure. But it looks pretty gnarly up there and i love wearing my dreads down, but now im constantly wearing hats and covering my hair up. Which i dont want to do, i want to show off my lovelies Its not dandruff or anything else i have checked it is just loads of fallen out hair. I have very black hair so obviously it shows up loads and looks like dandruff. Anyone find a way around this? I dont want to have to wear hats all the time, as i dont think i suit them. I could post a picture if you really wanted to see, but my camera is broken. I may be able to get one soon. But i was just wondering what people thought Great site guys.
Post a picture! Yeah dreads tend to eat up all that fallen out hair. As you now know. As for getting rid of the whites... well i suppose you COULD die it, and touch it up in those spots, but deffinetly not something i would do. If it naturally makes your dreads look black and white, i think that would look pretty damn cool. If you don't like hats maybe you can start wearing bandanas. that could cover up most of the dreads unless they are very long. anyway, post a picture!
Im trying to get a decent picture with my phone, but phone cameras, almost as a rule, are terrible. Unfortunatly It doesnt look cool it just looks like really bad dandruff from a distance, which is what i thought it was at first, but when i looked closely i noticed it was the ends of the hair.
you what..backcombed? your dreads are 3 weeksd old not really dreads yet backcombing is agressive and most likely yankedalotta hait out and trapped it give it time the dreads willk start to grow swallowing those roots less hgair will fall out now that your not torturing it with combing just let it be anotjherr 3 weeks to a month and it should sort itself out you just gotta let it grow and swallow all those roots i'm 90$ sure thats the result of backcombing though which in the case of dread journets 3 weeks is like yesterday...just barely begiun,... i wouldnt do any root rubbing flippinbg dreadballing any of that shit most sites tell ya to do id just leave it be awhile wear a hat wehen ya feel u need to and give it a lil time to settle in by the time they grow an inch (from the roots since the length will still be shrinking) they should disapear into the dreads also ..keep in mind that since ya backcombed the roots are more visible due to the sharp perfectly square sections most sites recomend that will take time to even out as well from ripping and getting likl fuzzy between dreads more natural sectioning leaves no gaps between dreads so the scalps not very visible to answer your question..and 90% of all dread questions..give it time
ive got really thick dark hair too... and it used to fall out a ton. just leave it be and like he^ said... it'll kinda take care of itself.
