now this is another question pertaining to the beatles and their respective solo careers...who wrote the highest quality music, and created the best art after the beatles dissolved? it's a really tough call. for me, i chose BOTH john and george, because to me, these were the two visionaries of the beatles...the introspectionists, the spiritualists, the dreamers, the activists. they just exuded more of a passion for their work than the other two in my opinion.

    Well I really can't decide.

I mean, Lennon had an great solo career, such a shame he couldn't continue.

McCartney had the good and bad, but Wings were good, and some of his solo stuff is OK.

Harrison, from what I've heard, his stuff was excellent.

As for Ringo, his carreer in Thomas the Tank Engine narrating was unbeatable.

It's close, but I have to agree with you, George and John. But Ringo for his narrating deserves props :D

I like the style of John. The quality doesn't matter, It's important the sincerity in the music. That's the most important:>

based on the wording of the question, Stu Suttcliff, as I understand it he was the best artist among them, doing some great painting. Not successful, but an artist and a beatle!

It'd be a tie between Paul & John.

George released Gone Troppo -- no matter how "good" the rest of his work is, that album alone brings his career way down. I'm shivering just thinking about listening to that album..

Ringo released lots of shit after Good Night Vienna.

Obviously Paul butchered his music, as did most of the world, throughout the 80s, but he's been spectacular these last 5 years, kept all of his '70s albums listenable, and released a few good albums in the 90s.

John never got the chance to mess around with synthesizers seeing as how he was dead, and that alone kept all of his work listenable.. but I could never say he was the best of the 4 solely because his solo career lasted only 10 years.

Although most people go with John, George's music always has a special meaning for me.He wrote some of the most beautiful, tranquil songs I've heard, regardless of how bad he was in the 80's.

Stuart Sutcliffe was already out of the band when he died, and I do believe he had given up music for the time being to go back to art school.

John music was also my favorite, both in the beatles and as a solo artis. His solo career was focused more on making us think about our society and the way we live, while Paul wrote "poppier" music. Although I don't know when I'll ever go back and listen to songs like "God" and "Give Peace a Chance", but they will always mean more to me than anything Paul wrote during his solo career.

I'd say John , all of his solo work was excellent but he died so early ...
George's album All Things Must Pass is great also i must say so that's why i say he's my second favorite.

My favorite is John Lennon.. but I'm also a pretty big fan of Wings, and Harrison's All Things Must Pass. I also love Ringo's ST album... but I'm not really into the rest... or at least I don't know if I am... maybe I should just check it out!

As far as really great - deep introspective meaningull etc. songs go. #1 John #2 George. I love Paul's music, but for the most part it's just "silly love songs" ...

    1. John
    2. George
    3. Paul
    4. Ringo

John was the only one who tried to use his status for positive social ends.

George was more interested in handing down spiritual advice, so I suppose that makes him concerned about people--but he could be cynical, at times.

Paul just wanted to start another band and have fun, which made people happy... because he could write great songs, I suppose.

Ringo... well... he had fun, and he had an all-star band.

I say any of them but Lennon, I hate his stuff
I'm gonna go with McCartney (I splet that wrong I know I did....) because he made the best Bond theme song and gave Guns N Roses a great cover
I cna not judge too fairly however because I have only heard one of Harrison's solo songs
