Not sure where to put this one, so I just put in the main forum....... Anyways though, has anyone ever seen Where the Buffalo Roam? It had Bill Murray playing Hunter Thompson. Basically the parent to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas you could say. I'd say it's a bit more normal story(though there's really like 3 different ones that the movies takes you through) then Fear and Loathing, less of random stuff that makes no sense you could say. Bill Murray does an excellent job of being Thompson I must say.
I watched it, and I was quite disappointed. Nowhere near as good as Fear and Loathing. For me Bill Murray tried to hard to imitate Johnny Depp as Hunter S Thompson. That spoiled it lots for me.
yes he does well but Johnny Depp really captured the essence of Hunter S. after all he studied him for almost a year before the fiming of fear and loathing... plus if you read the book, then watch fear and loathing everything seems alot less random....
To enjoy "Where the Buffalo Roam" you must see it with the original soundtrack. The DVD and later video copies have changed most of the music (which really sucks). The original has Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc., the later editions took all this great music out of the movie. To see it the way it was intended to be seen you must find an old original copy of it. The later editions are terrible compared to it. So do not judge it harshly if you have not seen it with the original soundtrack.
Well if anything Johnny Depp would be immitating Bill Murray since Where the Buffalo Roam came out 18 years before Fear and Loathing. Both spent time with Thompson for the role too.
