I mean, if they come from the ground, does that mean that they get their molecules from the soil? they cant just grow with no materials, so i suppose that every time i eat a nice shiney apple i am biting recomposed dirt. which leaves me optimistic that one day we will be able to create those molecule reassemblers to make food from nothing like in star trek. man, that would be so awesome, anything you want at any time and the only cost is a hunk of garbage to reassemble. it would solve so many problems, if only somebody would invent that. is it possible?

well.. that question is just like saying '' why are we here? '' ''why are tv's here''

Of course, its not just molecules after molecules, something scientists refuse to believe, there is damn OBVIOUSLY something mysterious and magical in the making of the universe.. there is no doubt about it

Plants get their nutrients from the soil, and their carbon from the CO2 in the air.

The seed holds a DNA map which tells it what form to put the molecules in, molecules which it procures from the dirt and what not.....or so they tell me in school. Not that I trust them to tell me the truth or anything, but it sounds nice. Little DNA maps and infinite molecules..
You know what really drives me nuts? That they consider astronomy a science. They say with all certainty "this is what the sun is made of, this is how it is formed"...dude, they don't have a feakin clue and they're probably at least 90% wrong. It's all theorys. Astronomy shouldn't be a science, it should be a philosophy.

The composition of stars is quite reliably determined by looking at the light they give off with a device called a spectrometer. Each element gives off light at particular frequencies (called "lines"), and by comparing the observed light spectrum with the known spectra of different elements, the composition can be pinned down very well. You can do it yourself for about $30:

    An explanation of the science:

Things like the overall shape of the universe, existence/non-existence of "dark matter", makeup of "black holes", etc, are a bit less certain.

Now if you want something that in no way resembles a science, try ASTROLOGY...

I don't know where plants come from.

I need to see if I've got my signature bug fixed.
