If the person gives off a friendly vibe, I'll hug them upon first greeting. Otherwise, I'll just say hi. [IMG]

If it's a woman I'll shake her hand only if she offers it,
and then applying less pressure than she.
    Hugs are likewise.
Didn't realize I could have multiple choices... duhhh

If it's a man I'll extend my hand hopefully meeting halfway
applying more or less equally firm pressure.
Certain Male Family members/ close Friends are hugged.

Really, really dislike those 'manly' man limp dishrag hand shakes
    unless there's a physical reason...

It is supremely hard for me to approach people because of my shyness.

I wish I could be as casual and smooth as hi, but I'm just not. I go into whats happened in my day, into whats happening in my family, who broke a toe, who's sick, who's getting married, etc...

When someone says, "How are you doing "?
    I say, "Gee, I don't know...I wasn't paying attention".

It's sort of an IQ test.

depends. Shaking hands or just saying hi is usually appropriate. But coming from a European family and being swarmed with other Euros, I get suckered into hugging people....

i'm kinda shy and horrible at talking to ppl except when first meeting them, because i don't have to think too much about what to say... socially i can be really retarded.... this mainly goes for work. i'm usually the one to say hi first and shake hands and introduce myself and ask the other person's name and if they like it or whatnot... sometimes i get the vibe of course that they're not interested so i just say hi and ask their name...
