If you didnt know, last week we got a new puppy. Rocky My original dog is a tiny bit bigger than the pup... she has always been a bit of a wuss, and was the runt of her litter. The new dog and her seem to get along pretty good, but the puppy never lets up. He bites her ears really hard and chews her neck with those little sharp puppy teeth. Sugar (the bigger dog) could jump on the furnature to get away but she's not. When the pup is sleeping she wakes him up to fight. They seem like they enjoy playfighting but how do I know if its a playfight and when to break it up? Is it ok to let them fight like that or will it get worse? thanks! (if you have any lectures, please take them elsewhere )
My mom's cats were like that...I'd break it up if you see blood... Really, it can be a territory thing. The new dog has to learn its place and all that...Sugar is the Queen and Rocky is the Prince of Wales...
Our new puppy is like that. I had to keep the muzzle on Delaunay for the first couple of months because she wanted to kill him. Now that she knows she's still my favorite she plays with him. Raven has left small cuts on my mom's dog, Zetabell. Zetabell cries out if he hurts her....Delaunay goes into attack mode. BUT my dog knows I'll get after her with a paper towel tube if she is mean. All I have to say is Delaunay be sweet and she calms down. I'm sure you will know when the fight crosses the line. You have to let dogs be dogs.
