Leading on from the Marmite thread, what's the most disgusting, or the strangest thing you've ever eaten? I've probably never found anything that tastes worse than Marmite, but I've eaten a few stranger things. I ate a whole spit roasted Guinnea Pig in Peru. It's a delicacy there. Of course the head staring back at you with its little eyes and teeth isn't that appetising. So I cut it off, wrapped it in a napkin and brought it back to the girls at the hostel. Should have heard the screams when their surprise at my generosity in bringing them 'take away' turned to terror....

I ate dog in Vietnam with a friend, much to the horror of the swedish girls we were travelling with. It's very common over there and can be found almost everywhere so we thought it stupid not to try it before we left. It was a little chewy (I don't know the breed heh) and not bad but nothing amazing, nice kind of spices and stuff with it though. We were kind of egging each other on and I don't know if I'd have tried it had I been travelling alone though. I also ate rat in Cambodia on the same trip which was a bit rough really but it cost next to nothing and again it's a good story to be able to tell so we did it for the hell of it hehe

    BTW Good thread!

Chocolate covered ants, various flavoured mann (doughy round things from Japan), Sashimi (not all, but raw squid is definately weird).

You can buy them at a nature shop around here, for the hardcore people who go spend time in the wildnerness, apparently they're really good for you. A friend of mine made me eat a few on a dare once when I was about 10...

Blades of grass (coould'nt swallow them) and dandelion leaves from the garden (which some people use in salad). My husband once ate an entire pencil when he was stoned, working as a radio operator for a cab company, as there was absoloutley no food in the place and he got the munchies.

A dish of Tripe in milk served up by uncle Thomas when I visited him in Eire. All came about when I told him of my principle that one should accept any given food gratefully, being a travelling man and all. :)

Lamb. Honestly, I don't get lamb.

That probably is the strangest thing actually. I saw some Kangaroo Loin Meat on sale at Leeds Festival, but I didn't have £5 to waste on one item of food!

I've snorted some stranger things, like pepper for instance.

A friend of mine got the raw end of that deal though. I was given £5 by a drunk friend to snort pepper, after he'd payed another friend £5 to snort pepper and spicey monster munch crumbs. There was probably some cigarette ash ended up in his "line" too.
