I used to think that Tom's couldn't be surpassed. But these days I've been pinching pennies so I've taken to buying the no-frills brand at the 99c Store. Haven't noticed any remarkable difference.
I've never tried baking soda and peroxide though. I don't think I'd much care for getting the peroxide out of my mouth :(
Any ideas, opinions, or suggestions ? Oh, by the way, I don't do gel. Strictly white paste only !

well i prefer toms of maine (clove) or closeup (cinnamon, much cheaper) because they taste much better than most other "normal" toothpastes, which are sickeningly pseudo-sweet...i dont know if closeup makes anything other than gels anymore though....

so i dunno. i'd say arm and hammer baking soda toothpaste is much less an offensive taste (to me) than something like crest or aquafresh.

toms of maine. famous mostly for their toothpaste, which is biodegradable, made with natural ingredients, and (a novel idea in the toothpaste industry) for not tasting like ass.

it has gone through some changes in the past couple years though, so it may not be as all-natural as it once was. i think theres flouride and such in them now, but i dont know for sure.

they come in a variety of flavors though, like mint, spearmint, apricot, clove, strawberry, and so on.

the only drawback is that it costs a couple bucks more than most toothpaste. usually around 3-6 bucks a tube for toms.

Ultrabrite tastes like crappy mint, & costs one buck.
You don't need peroxide either, you can just use baking soda..It tastes like crap too.
I think we have aim or some such shit in our cabinet. I really doubt it matters, as long as they get brushed.

I don't use toothpaste much now that I know about mouthwash. I have a mug by my bed that I keep mouthwash in; I use it then spit it back in the glass to re-use tomorrow. I can use the same mouthwash for about a week or two before it goes bad. Talk about ultimate recycling!

I also use Tom's of Maine -- WITHOUT fluoride (peppermint or apricot). It's the only kind I use. There are a few other good natural fluoride-free tooothpastes on the market as well, but are even more expensive than Tom's, which I think is reasonably priced for the quality.

Do you also turn your urine and perspiration back into drinking water ? The question wasn't meant as a joke.

No, things like that get purified naturally by the earth so do no harm. Chemically produced mouthwash and toothpaste are a different story. It's best to use as little as possible.
