what do you all think about 5 40 watt shop lights with full spectrum flouro plant bulbs? I actually have 3 shop lights at the moment but when the plants actually come out of the soil ill get more. My room Is about 5 feet by feet by 4 feet (approximate) with coated tin foil on the walls. What you all think about that? PICTURES COMMING VERY SOON ahh man I hope the yield is large with 13 plants (all probably wont grow) so I can never be dry! And one more thing. I might be trying to sell some of this (with a middle man) tell me what you think about this I know I could get some cash money flow
You'll never grow commercial grade sinse with 5 flouros. The "light density" is not enough to produce tight buds.
well its actually 10. 5 shop lights, each light holds actually 2 bulbs. If not that how many more would it take for it to be all good
Let me put it this way: 4 shop lights will grow two scragly plants. If you add 4 shop lights on two sides as the plants grow, you can grow two decent plants in the center. Maybe up to 3 oz if you're lucky. But flouros begat loose buds- hard to sell. You need at least 400-600 watts of more intense lights (HID- eithier HPS or MH or CF or MV or something else) to grow up to a pound or more of primo weed.
what about starting off for first 4 weeks of flower under fouro(i have 180 watts equal to almost 900w)and finishing off under 600w hps for the second 4 weeks? would that work? spooner
see the thing is.... I would have used high pressure sodium lights in the first place if they werent so damn expesive (they ARE expensive arent they?). See being 15 years old with a very tight budget its hard to spend a couple hundred on a light. 2 of my plants have sprouted yay! I currently now have 8 flouro full spectrum bulbs lighting my grow room. I would say thats pretty damn good. I also have foil on the walls slightly contributing to the lighting First grow im excited I know it wont be the best bud BUT its just one step towards growing good chronic.
Well this should be a good learning experience for you then. Hps security lights from Home Depot can be easily converted into a remote ballast light. To put it simply More light = More Bud. A good rule of thumb is 50 to 60 watts of light for every sq ft of gowing space. I would also lose the tinfoil, and paint the wall flat white. much better for reflectivity( is that a word? lol) A combo of the flouros and the HPS would provide all the spectrum you would need , and you do not need to buy the pricey Flouro grow tubes either , cool white work just as well. and as I ssaid combine them with the hps and you will have a good mix of the reds and blue spectrum, more blue during vegatative growth and more red during flowering.:sunglasse
First things first. Ditch the flouros. Or use them for side lighting. But never, should an HPS be supplmementing flourescent lights. Always the other way around. Second off, get a hps light off ebay. 400 watters usually are around 160 bukcs. And if you are selling this pot, youll get more of it, and and make 5 times as much money. Aluminiun foil is not a good idea. Because it crunches up and forms ridges and uneven distribution, it produces hot spots. In other words, light is reflected moreso in some places, and less in others. Its refeltivity i think is around low 70's, while something like mylar is up to 98%. Any other info you can give us? Strain? ( I assume bagseed) Venting? Anythhing else? theo ps Heres some links for HPS lights on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42225&item=4325445505&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42225&item=4327649063&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3186&item=4328340189&rd=1
He says she's got no money. MH or HPS Bulbs, ballast and socket can be purchased for about $50 at homedepot and than assembled easily. A 65w CF runs about $35 and will grow a nice plant better than the equivilent hps wattage In a low light situation, increase the blue light and get tighter, better quality buds.
