what the hell was going down at ocala ?!

my friend just got back this morning and he has told me that it was a very good gathering but that main circle was REALLY off at the beginning of last night (sat the 19th). luckily thought it came around of course.

someone had a camera right down in main circle taking a load of pictures right in the drummers faces ! i would not have approved or allowed that ! one sister said she saw a guy walk up and try to hand someone a cigarette that was drumming just to TRY and bribe them to stop LOL
thats how bad it sucked in the beginning. :sultan:

he said there were some strange winds blowing back and forth between rainbow land and across parking areas....
anyone care to share their experiences at ocala this year ?

 

When isnt there...... The posts on the Web the last 2 weeks were ALL twisted. PM me on any subject.


Beginning we had some new, un-experienced road kids wanting to hook up with family and like all new members of the Family, they must learn to sync into the groove.



The came around nice and proper like. It was a rough week for them at first but we taught and hope they will be taught proper still. We had SEVERAL Weddings!!!!! LOVE was IN the AIR !!!!!!!!!!



I had a beautiful time and wouldnt trade it for anything... (6 tons of food at 1 gate) even when the new young nic-at-nite crowd was telling us elders in trade circle TOBACCO shouldnt be traded.

I'll do a whole post on this later with an on-going saga on Death Camp..over at AGR (with PICS).

If that was the 'worst' of it, it sounds like the best ocala in recent history.

And why would you 'not allow' someone to nonviolently express their personal freedom, while capturing art with their art?

 

uhh willy there are @least 2 reasons cameras are uncool.& i`m sure some1 could comeup w/ more.@ the outset & this should be rather obvious & i could be wrong abt which is more obvious.some ppl may have warrants out on them,since family is a kinda sanctuary,most should be "protected" by that.some warrants are in a sense "unwarranted".oh yeh here`s all of a sudden a third reason:nudity.& the second is this:revulsion of cameras as a "thief" of the soul.& here1s a 4th too, just in. just plain old_fashioned courtesy.

 

cameras are in a sense lilke alcohol, loud generators,atv`s, etc. mostly a part of babylon. in some ways like the amish in some respects.tho since i havent been to ocala in a long time mebbe things have changed alot, i dunno.but i havent heard generators have been brought in yet.

The want to protect those in attendance in a legal fashon is understandable. But if someone's going nude, they chose to go nude.... It's the photographers responsibility to make sure that the photos are not misused, but there's nothing wrong with cameras.

 

That really seems like something the person being photographed and the photographer should be able to work out without your involvement. I could be wrong.

 

i`m well aware of what a camera is i work with one sometimes. perhaps i shoulda put that disclaimer in. yeh i know how confusing this all is, cuz i questioned these same things once myself. it`s kinda ironic bcuz back then the majority knew bout the soul thief thing. this wasn`t meant as my personal beliefs. there just happen to be some ppl who believe that way. & they have a right to believe that way if they so choose. it just so happens that things have changed apparently to the point where not really much matters anymore duhz it? & that`s obviously part of the problem.& there used to be warning signs posted abt the nudity. & actually there may be generators down there for all i know. & while we`re @ it lets bring in atv`s, jets skis, helicopters,mud wrestling,4 wheel drives,pit-bull fighting, cock-fighting, let`s sell things,heck let`s just televise the thing, we might as well. for your information alot of ppl have quit family for these very reasons, i`m not alone in this ya know. this is often why what`s left apparently isn`t all that great.

 

ya just hafta ask yourself where does it end? & @ this point i guess it shouldn`t. to be honest maybe it should get even worse. cuz maybe then ppl would see that it should be changed back to the beginnings. plz read rap 101 & get back to me would ya?

• Sure... it's a spiritual gathering... thats why there is no video of any of the spiritual stuff here. I shoot the fun stuff that happens at mine and my friends kitchens. I'm not filming people praying or people in sweat lodges. You also don't see any video or photo's of people smoking because I do respect people's privacy. but a whole shitload of people can't go to every event for whatever reason and we like to see pics of the happenings...why leave it to only the memories of the attendee's?

nothing wrong with the camera...just the rude users. iow, ask if a face will be involved. i bring mine everywhere i go and end up with lots of pics of scenery and dog pics and faces of friends who were asked if they mind. i'll chalk kinupture down as one who would mind.

many thx. actually i may @ some point have a camera too.we do what we can to survive, & or thrive.

 

and you're not alone. many others don't want their picture taken for various reasons and it should be respected...

 

So tell that to the guy with the camera. If you don't sound like a psychotic douche about it, chances are he won't have any problem. But if you fly off the handle and start talking about your warrants and how he's stealing your soul with his little magic box of optical evil, he's going to start recording video, instead of turn it off.

hey, i was only talking about a normal exchange with normal people...you can bring in all the minute variables ya want but i mostly deal with the most likely scenario's and that only involves RESPECT.

 

Then what's the big deal? taking photos is not disrespectful, and asking someone to not take photos is not disrespectful either. Sounds like a non-issue to me.
