I picked the first one. I liked them all a lot... but that first one just took me away the first time I saw it in the theatre. It seemed so long, but it kept me into it the entire time. (partially just because of how much i anticipated it) By the time it was done, I was like, oh yeah, there's this whole other world of reality that I forgot about. and that was before i ever even thought of drugs. Maybe it had to do with other things too, like the mood i was in that day or something. i dont know. but it was an awesome experience. Going back to watch it is good too. I love the shire. The part when Gandalf is riding away from the young hobbits and they begin to look disapointed, then he shoots off some fireworks. that one little instance for some reason sticks out to me. I expect it everytime, but it still just makes me feel so good. Then, after they go through a bunch of action and get to the elf city, everything calms down and it seems almost like the movie could end and it would feel satisfactory, but it's just begun... and that makes it great. anyway, i love it.
BTW, has anyone seen other Peter Jackson films? Beautiful Creatures was one that I liked a lot.

Definetly the first one, although my favorite book was the 3rd.

    I agree with Myrtje.....

I found Return of the King to be the best book (and a close tie for best movie)

The Fellowship of the Ring had some great exposition (character / plot developement) plus the first look into that world will always leave a great impression on me. Fellowship also foreshadows the entire 2nd and 3rd!

Return of the King puts it all together in a neat little package!

The Two Towers was the best one IMO. More action and the battle at what ever it's called (sorry, not a LOTR geek) where the humans are outnumbered was just some the coolest shit I've ever seen in a movie. It's up there with the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

Same here. Ive seen all three installments once, well The Two Towers twice because I thought it was bad ass, and I havent watched them since. Good movies, but not something I'd freak out about like Star Wars nerds. No offense BTW Star Wars nerds. :)

Return of the King. Probably because I worked at the cinema that had the World premiere for it.. not that I worked at the premiere.. but it was the only movie we showed for weeks and weeks.. and all of us ended up knowing the lines to it.. kinda has stuck.

"Return of the King" is my favourite movie out of all three. Aragon has such a humble attitude about himself and puts others above himself. If you remember in the 'Return of the King' movie when Aragon is presented with the sword (by Hugo Weavings character) that was made whole again. Aragon states that he holds hope for the race of mankind (something like that) but none for himself.

He is a simple ranger through out the first two movies and cares about others and his reward in the end is he become's King. Yet even as king he kneel's before Frodo and the other three hobbits at the end of the third movie and remains humble.

The Two Towers is my second favourite.

Same here, i got obsessed after the first film haha. It was so magical, and i still love it because of that. The other films are far more exciting and all that, the 1st is a bit boring at times but i still love it.
