What is wrong with this country

I see that in addition to the liberal MMJ laws, California now has signed into law SB 1449 making possesion of 28.5 grams of cannabis a civil infraction with a $100 fine.

Now you go to Florida where possesion of 20 grams of cannabis is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Florida also has a law where if you get caught growing 25 plants it is a felony with up to 15 years in prison, hell even federal law says 300 plants.

Washington DC now has medical marijuana and that had to be approved by congress or at least not opposed.

You have the AG office saying they won't interfer with state laws but a new DEA chief who says they're going after anyone breaking federal law.

I just found out the former Governor of New Mexico smoked what he termed medical marijuana from 2005 to 2008 when it wasn't legal in that state. I wonder how many citizens were arrested for that same thing during that time.

I could keep going but don't want you to fall asleep.
When are people going to get angry enough to put a stop to this, even the government must believe in the benefit of marjuana as they've taken out patents on it.

So can anyone tell me how we can remove the stigma attached to the term Marijuana?

Marijuana is not Mexican slang for cannabis , mota is slang for weed/cannbis/marijuana...Marijuana is the word used for the cannbis plant in Mexico,not a slang word..sinsemllia also spanish for =without seed..aka unpollintated female cannabis plants..

 

Whether it's called weed,ganja,marijuana or cannabis the anti-cannabis people will all view it the same,which it is,a rose by any other name is still a rose.Weed or cannabis by any other name is still cannabis,the cops and politicains don't care if it's called Cannabis sativa. or weed,it is all Dope to those people!

 

To be fair I use the word cannabis while out trying to collect signatures to get a medical bill on the Florida ballot and 9 times out of 10 the response I get is "Oh you mean marijuana, no sorry I don't want my name attached to anything to do with marijuana"

 

when will we be free? when will we truly have our basic rights? i ask myself every day. we need to stand together all of us for peace and sweet mary jane.

 

Did you know that MJ doesn't meet any of the Federal drug law requirements to make something schedule I? Pisses me off so much...

But no, it is very true that using the word cannabis is better. The words "pot" "weed" and "marijauna" have been demonized for too long. For most people cannabis is a word without stigma attached. Of course to some hardcore Nazi prohibitionists it does, but not to the average person.

My parent's always tell me not to bring "pot" or "drugs" back from college, and I'm like "why are you trying to make cannabis sound like heroin??? you can't even get arrested for it here in MA!"

They intentionally try to use stigmatized words to guilt me or whatever. Sadly, they know on a logical level that cannabis is perfectly fine, even helps me get schoolwork done. But the stigma and emotions attached to "pot" and "marijuana" get the best of them.

As for our f'ed up country, they take advantage of stigma to demonize cannabis, as other's have done to them. Then they brag about how drunk they got last night...
