Tick tick tock goes the clock, as both it and yourself propel ever forward along the arrow of time. A second passes. You are still there. Nothing has changed. You have just become another second older. One day the clock will tick, and your heart will stop beating forever. No-one can escape the fate of death. Death and time are inextricably linked. But what are they? That is the ultimate question that i wish to pose in this new thread.
its how we measure the space around us and its changes through passing.... if it doesn't make sense this is really hard to put in words....
One of the better descriptions of time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMA2VdiC4SM"]YouTube - Frank Yankovic "Tick Tock Polka" .
For those of you who like dabbling with time, time travel, fate of the universe, etc., check out Tipler and his Omega Point theory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_J._Tipler#The_Omega_Point .
I moved this thread to the Mind Fuck forum as Time is the greatest Mind Fuck of all. That's cause it's just an illusion caused by our limited perceptions.
Everything that has happened and will happen already exists in the eternal present. Buddhists believe the past and future are illusions that trap us and keep us focused in the material world and cause much suffering.
This is what I don't get about all this buddhism malarky. We are supposed to meditate to free our selves from the material world to a state of bliss, where time does not exist. But if I do that, then before I reach enlightenment I will have already have spent a period of time within "time" and if time is an illusion so that everything i do exists in the present, then my perception of time will always exist and I will never be able to escape that. Saying that though, when I am asleep I am unaware of time, although my dreams do tend to progress along an imaginary flow of linear time.
I'm going to set a note in my iPhone to remind me to necro this thread on the 20th of dec 2012 to see if you are right.
