I would assume that we're soul mates...In fact, we were introduced as soul mates...But there HAS to be another word for it...And I'm not entirely sure that I believe in "soul mates."

We ARE the same person. We're trying to not over think this friendship, which is SO AWESOME, so incredibly awesome. And at the same time, we're trying to figure out what exactly this friendship is.

We feel like we've known each other for FOREVER, but its only been a couple of years. The better portion of our lives have existed within a couple of blocks of each other, and we finally crossed paths.

Anyone well versed in this stuff? HELP!

    Putting it simple, MeThinks,
Soul-mates are those that one realises in time that they are not to be looked for, for those seeking such will not find
    :)

I'm not looking for my soul mate, I wasn't actually looking for this friendship. It more or less found me...But that's not what I'm talking about here....Anyone know what this kind of friendship is called??? There HAS to be something that describes it.

Here is how I understand it.

Soulmates can be any one of a group of people who travel through lives together.

Twin Flames are actually two parts of the same soul.

But aren't twin flames supposed to be male and female? I think we're twin flames, but we're both girls.

You know...I'm no expert but I would guess that if each of you were in touch with both sides of your personality and balanced in both aspects then it may not be necessary.

BraveNCrazy, since you are the one actually experiencing this relationship, I for one would be very interested in a detailed description of what it's like, and only someone like you can describe it.

BTW I seem to be part of a weird soul grouping of people who, though we may not know each other much or at all in life, are spiritually connected through a loose network of friends or acquaintances, and are independently experiencing the same sequence of life events: Finding our spirituality, losing everything we've gained materially, getting generally thrashed, and gradually manifesting our spiritual calling. Anybody have a name for THIS? :D

Zengizmo, it sounds like you are a part of a group of lightworkers who are going through awakening to shed what is no longer needed and moving toward fulfilling you spiritual contracts as lightworkers.

Believe it or not, I have a relationship just as you describe. Some very lucky people get to meet others who understand their thought patterns, who are perceptive enough to relate so well it can sometimes feel as if your minds are one. The similarity of our world view, our experiences, our humour and our ideas just adds to this feeling of oneness.

A human's capacity for empathy can be vast...it has played a vital role in the survival of our species, and though for most people this simply means being able to co-operate, chat, share the odd idea etc, for some (especially patient, kind, sensitive and intelligent people with similar personality traits) this can extend to a wonderful level of understanding and deeper, more effective communication than you could normally get with a person chosen at random.

This of course has no proven link with anything supernatural whatsoever, and if you want a second opinion on that, ask a user called lithium ;)

Detailed description, eh? Well....For starters, there was this woman, a mutual friend of ours, who knows us both pretty well (or at least she knew us well back then) told me I needed to meet this friend. Said we were soulmates. I was like, "You CrayCray, but I'll meet her if it will make you happy." (Not those EXACT words, of course) so I meet this person with whom I now share THE BEST friendship of my life...And I was like "Hello, nice to meet you...I've heard lots about you" the typical getting to know you spheal...We had a lot in common, but I really didn't care to have any new friends at this time....So I listened to her talk and went about my merry way. The friend who introduced us kept checking back to see if we were friends yet...And eventually a few months later our paths crossed and we hung out for the first time. Corresponded through email and by phone a lot...Realized that we were pretty similar and shared similar viewpoints and stuff like that...And as time went on, we got closer and closer and I guess I read into things a lot more than the average Joe, but this friendship is unlike any other I've ever experienced. She's just plain happy with our being friends, and I'm like "THIS IS AWESOME, but what is it??" Something about her can take the craziest of situations and calm them almost effortlessly. Together we are a creative high, and an endless source of laughter and conversation. It's almost as if we've known each other for the entirety of our lifetimes which are of vast differences, but somehow collide all the same. I feel like that was being vaguely descriptive.

She (best friend) also has some input to offer:

Hey ya'll, I'm the other subject in this crazy relationship and it would sure be nice to know if there are others out there who are like us! Who are sooo close, yet not. Who are so comfortable in each others company regardless of the activity (walking, church functions, watching movies, etc.)when together and when apart are often waiting for our next time together just to feel like "we're home". Does that make sense? I think the idea of soul mates or twim flames is real close. Maybe we are just damn lucky best friends. One of us is needing some concrete description of "us" and one of us is just plain happy with it all, but curious all the same.

Thanks for elaborating a bit, you two. :) I've never had anything like this, ever - and I'm 58 years old. It must be a blessing. I envy you.

sounds like castinada's "shadow". our other selves that we have that can do the dreamworld things that our physical selves usually can't in this one.

But she and I can do pretty much all the same stuff...Sure there are a few limitations, but we're basically the exact same person...She's me and I'm her and I'm me and she's her. Weirdness-in-a-can.

I won't lie, its pretty friggin' schweet.
