Hey, I am from The US, particularly Pennsylvania. I am totally into Europe, and have had an interest in Scotland for over a year now...I love the scenery (as I see in pictures) and several of my friends have visited and said 1.) It was the best place and 2.) That the people are realy extremely friendly.

I wanna visit Scotland so bad, maybe even move there :)

    SO what is it like?

    Cheers,
    Dylan

Hmmm scotland, well its cold (as is all of britain) erm the scottish people i've known have all been decent sorts. Erm the highlands are pretty stunning, the property is very cheap. Edinburgh and Inverness are cool citys....Glasgow has some really REALLY scummy parts, and some nice parts...scotlands cool, whats pennsylvania like?

scotland is cold and smells funny, but is so perfectly awesome
if you go there, don't go near the scummy parts of the cities - you won't last a minute. the people are great if you know the right ones

Whatever you do try and go in the summer when the weather is relatively good as a winter trip to Scotland would be depressing.

Cold and wet and the standard of football and rugby is generally not very good.

On the plus side the beer is excellent, as is most of the rest of the beverage side of scottish culture. The traditional music while a bit dull compared with that of Ireland is good too. Countryside and landscapes are quite stunning if you don't mind being out in the cold and the rain to see it.

The best thing about Scotland though, like a lot of countries, is that it is NOTHING like Wales! ;)

its not that cold darn it!!!

scotland is amazing, speically the outer hebridies. even when you are in a big city, like edinburgh you only have to drive about 20 mins and it feels as though you are in the middle of no where. if you get behind the tradition, music and ceileighs and find out old highland ways, youll discover so much more...... im happy i live where i live right now.

    point of order m'lud.

Isn't it outer hebrides and ceileidhs?

Dunno why you'd want to leave Edinburgh though. i had a good look around the place a couple of years ago when my orchestra was playing in the Edinburgh festival. Nice little city. Enjoyed a good Karaoke in a Hogshead pub there. Oh and saw Otis Lee Crenshaw live as well!

Scotland is beautiful I go a few times a year. The scenery is amazing and the people are really friendly. But England has great places as well mainly the Lake District and Peak destrict there is beautiful scenery and walks but these are becoming crowded with cars, and people.

    You're a biased northerner.

Don't neglect the South East. Well you could give the chav areas a miss, but London's got a lot going for it, and East Anglia, and Surrey. The Cotswolds, the Sussex Downs, and most importantly of all, Shepherds Bush, W12!
