Sometimes I wonder weather God exists or not, and because I was raised Christian (and I'm not a christian anymore) it's easy for me to say 'nope'. But do you (atheists/agnostics/anybody who's reading this) ever wonder what God is exactly? Weather we have souls or not, there's still proven energy and life running through our bodies, and in nature... So this gets me thinking. What if this, no matter how small or unnoticable it may be, is in fact a God of some sort? Could Christianity have just been (or started as) a metaphor for the symbolism of this very essence? What are your thoughts on the topic?
God can not be understood by speculation and philosophy. God's presence can be felt through meditation. What you are talking about, the essence of physical nature, reality, is one aspect of God. Om....
when i read this i become confused about whether you mean the meaning of the word or if you already know about the existance and are just trying to clear up details
Ha ha. I'm sure he has heard of God, but it's a crucial question. What is it? If we say that we either do or don't believe in God, then surely we must think we know what it it in order to say whether it exists or not. If you say god doesn't exist then you must know what God is right? I say god exists because I think God is simply 'that which exists', ie, everything, truth, nature, the universe etc. God himself said exactly the same thing in the book of Genesis. He said 'I am that I am'. (I don't think he actually said it really. It's a metaphor from the story of the burning bush when moses realised the nature of God) I think the story of Christ is a metaphor to demonstrate the true nature of man's relationship with the universe. Man is the creation of the universe, and therefore, although separated, man and universe are of the same essence. In the story, Jesus teaches that we are all children of God and can all enter the kingdom of God. Traditional Christian doctrine teaches that Jesus alone was the son of god, part of God, connected and the rest of us are separate, but what the story really means is that we are all connected to God. God and man are one. It's not just Man that is one with God. Everything that exists is one with God, because God is everything that exists. It's only humans that think they're not one with God because they think too much. The story of the fall of man says humans became separated from God when they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I believe this is a metaphor for human beings developing sophisticated intelligence and self-autonomy, breaking away from nature and God and forgetting what we truly are. It always reminds me of Joni Mitchell when she sang, 'We are stardust, billion-year-old carbon. We are golden and we've got to find our way back to the garden.' Sorry, I am going off the point. 'What is God?'. I am and you are. Even Venom is.
being blind is part of being in love, but being in love is not part of being blind. a steeringwheel is part of a car, but a car is not part of a steering wheel.
The question is what is God? well, in my opinion, It is not something that is tangable, nor that you can speak to, nor that you can interact in anyway. Its each religions high power that they believe created them or fear that will destroy them. There is not proof of anything from after death, whether there is a hell or a heaven. The world is completely filled with energy that just flows around, and some are from ppl who have died and theyre not in heaven or hell. theyre still on this earth. WHY? Thats my research. But it isnt a bad thing if you question God, it just means that you are actually thinking about all of the facts and putting them together and realizing that all the shit they told you in church isnt actually all true. You start watching the history channel, or read books, read the bible, study, find your center. THAT is your GOD.
god is a word, a shortining of the word good, pasted on an experience some, possibly many, people have, for which there are no words, that mean anything. it is an amicable meeting with something without discernable form, about which can only be perceived its being greater then ourselves, and not appearing to intend us any particular harm. =^^= .../\...
What do you think "parables" were? Christ didn't have much of a choice... he was at one with a world that goes beyond sub-atomic, ... He coudn't start talking Quantum Mechanics to people in his day... People would have looked to him like he was a fool. Yet that's where was operating. A level of existence where (by essence) we are all interconnected. As for the question... I am not 100% sure of what god is. And I don't think anybody can know until they die. But after my recent years and research I have come to the conclusion that Light has to fit in there somewhere. Science has brought us to the point where we know, life came had to come from an energy that always was,is, and will be. And God is a being that is said by philosophers and believers to be a being that always was, is, and will be. The only energy I can possibly conceive in my mind that has always been, is and will be, is LIGHT. Therefor, I don't know what god is, but in my opinion he either has one powerul flashlight, or, is somekind of being of light himself, or a third scenario in my mind illustrates LIGHT as GOD itself. But one thing is sure for me, the only way that I have become to be a true beilever in god is by reconciling the "source of energy debate" in my mind as light.
a god is a nontangable awaireness, greater then ourselves, that wishes us no particular harm. basicly what a belief lies to itself about pretending to know more about then it does. =^^= .../\...
i think our sybol is kinda like who we are you know. i think god is a symbol you know. "i think im god you know" i believe that life is equality, and if christians just so happen to have the same belief. why not let them. they just use different words to describe themselves man.
It is impossible to understand what god is within the confines of present day understanding. We can understand how god could and does exist, although also simultaneously does not exist as well. The current accepted working theory of everything, or string theory demand there to be 10 dimensions to the universe (or multi-verse). We live in a 3 dimensional existance. Physicists will often retort that the higher dimensions are infantesimly small, existing only within subatomic particles, however such would always be the case with higher dimensions within those lower dimensions. Existance as we know it requires definition in all 3 dimensions, length, width, and depth, as well as a fourth, time or duration in order to exist. Without length, width or depth any object would be impossibly flat and would not exist. Even light has a depth although its measured in picometers. Without duration, would also mean non-existance, as a thing that exists for zero seconds, (or zero nanoseconds) simply does not exist. That being said, the existance of 7 higher dimensions must also demand that all things that exist have substance in all dimensions, even if only in picometers. The nature of these higher dimensions are quite literally beyond our ability to comprehend, but that doesn't mean that there couldn't be superdimensional beings within them (or even if we are superdimensional beings as well and pehaps our consciousness refelcts that), any god would most definitly be such a superdimensional being. When understanding these higher dimensions it becomes clear at the 8th dimension, anything and everything that exists, does not exist, could ever exist, or even could not ever exist, does in fact exist as infinity is an impossibly small 7th dimensional dot within the 8th dimension. As all of these higher dimensions exist within every sub-atomic particle that makes up every atom, any such god or superdimensional being would also be infinitly larger than the entire universe and simultaniously impossible smaller than the smallest sub-atomic partlce. In short god exists because he/she/it does not exist, and all of us don't exist because we do in fact exist. http://www.tenthdimension.com/medialinks.php
How is it that we don't exist because we do exist? We may cease to exist, but existence is what it is. Logic loves infinity
Yes but existance is also what isn't. There is far more to existance than just what is. In the 8th dimension, infinity, which is every possible beginning to every possible end of the universe, is just a tiny impossibly small 0 dimnensional point, and there are 2 more dimensions beyond the 8th in existance.
