Do you think things would be any different if Hilary was in office instead of obama. you think we would be stuck in the same place we are now ????
I've heard this before, have you any evidence for this? I looked and could not find anything on it. ...granted I didn't look for very long.
http://www.cbc.ca/arts/story/2005/12/01/clinton_law-051201.html Hillary Clinton promotes law to ban violent video games you obviously didn;t look very hard
The link states that there would be restrictions on video games...a ban on selling them to children. ...an age restriction on the games not a complete ban i.e nobody can buy them. I found many articles about implementing age restrictions on video games not a ban on violent video games.
She didn't want to ban them per se, but she was part of the movement to limit their sale to youth. Don't even need to go back to the 90's, here's an article from 2005 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article438332.ece and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Entertainment_Protection_Act
Not really. There is a big difference. I guess: "Clinton wanted an age restriction on violent video games" isn't such a big deal is it? It's a good idea to make that clear, don't you think...? ...not just say:Hillary was the one who wanted to ban violent video games in the 90's, " Because it is a lie isn't it? If not a lie not the whole truth. I thought you were better than that.
no she'd ban them if given the chance, just like the PMRC would've banned explicit music if given the chance
Her never ending crusade against them is enough. Even Republican senators didn't care that much about violent video games.
It isn't enough. It's fair to say: "Hilary wanted age restrictions on violent video game." I'm not quite sure why that isn't enough to say.
It's more than enough evidence for me. Like I said she has a crusade since the 90's going. $1,000 fine for selling a violent game to a minor, and $5,000 the second time it happens? Liquor stores don't get fined that much when they sell to underage kids.
okay, so if hilary was pres there'd be no video games at all anywhere and all the kids would have to get jobs to pay their fines other than that, i don't see a huge difference, and didn't before the election oh, one very important difference all the teabaggers would have the word bitch on their signs [good thing she didn't win]
Ok, lets compromise. Hilary Clinton wanted to ban children from buying violent video games. Hows that? That's accurate isn't it? we agree about that. You seem to know the facts, so why did you misrepresent the facts initially...(missing out:... to kids) I don't see the big deal about this...they have age restrictions on violent films...why not for violent video games? Why do you have a problem with that? What would be ridiculous is if they put an 18, heck, 15 age restriction on Mario Brothers or Pac-Man for being violent. But they don't do they? This is a real non issue, imho. I thought you were the kind of person to root out misrepresentations and out right lies...not do it yourself.
The movie rating system is as asinine as Hillary's proposal was, people should be arguing to take that down, not build up more systems to protect it. The difference is no one gets fined if a movie attendant accidentally lets a 16 year old into a rate R movie.
Oh right, you are not a fan of age restrictions. Fair enough. No need to BS about it, though, imho. I guess there is a need for you to make it seem worse than it actually is... ...I appreciate that. Movin' on... So you have no problem letting an eight year old see violence? I imagine there is a moral over indulgence as far as American ratings are concerned. I'm sure there are e.gs where it is ridiculous. I have seen the ratings change over the years, a lot more is allowed through than once upon a time. It's the same here too. There are still disparities with US and UK (for e.g) ratings... But rating films/video games is something parents want...and Is - overall - not a bad thing, imho.
