What has happened to the people here at hipforums???

I think my expectations of what the people on hipforums would be like was to high. A lot of people I have met on here are cold and arrogant... exactly like the type of people I deal with in every day life and I used to come here to connect with deep individuals and get away from all of that. Whats the deal these days? Are most people just losing their connections with themselves? Or am I really just expecting to much? Where is the friendliness, love and acceptance that is supposed to found in a place like this? I love hipforums and I know not everyone on here is the same... hmm I was just kinda thinkin about that and decided to type it up.

I don't know...I think the people on hipforums are GENERALLY nicer that most people you'd meet on the street, because they share some of the same ideals of love and peace, but there are always going to be exceptions, and there are always going to be just plain mean people. It sometimes depends on the threads you read...

 

Seeing as most people on hipforums are 15 year olds who wish they were present at woodstock you can see how it doesnt go that deep

 

They became real, righteous, and multidimensional.

 

Maybe people would take you more seriously if you'd figured out how to use the shift key when you picked your name.

Try not to find people who fit the stereotype... hippies have changed.. we are not locked in the 60s and by the looks of it you were not born in the 60s, as neither was I... i rank myself a hippy in the only sense that i got long hair.. i don't go peace and love to ppl all the time.. nor do i go around acting like a hippy.. i am myself, sometimes i am a right arsehole, as were some hippies according to my parents, who were hippies back in the day. Try and find what you really want to be and really want to say. Peace and love is something we all have i guess... But don't use it so you are a hippy!

I think there are only a few extremely sarcastic people who overanalyze every mistake you make and mock you constantly. But for the most part, there are a lot of other people who are entirely the opposite. Don't give up just yet, that would be a mistake. I met a lot of really cool people here and I registered a few days ago.

 

Depends on why you identify with hippie.

Some are kids that smoke voracious amounts of weed.

Others are old folks looking to rekindle their teenage years.

Some of us simply are thankful for a lot of the hippie traits - self-reliance, resourcefulness, anti-materialism, good vibes, etc. which could apply to any of a manner of music styles or types.

As to why Juggalos come here, no idea. Except the free love bit, perhaps

Pains me to admit, but uhh yeah that was me, about three or four years ago.
Then, guess what ....
I grew up, did some soul searching, and got a life.
Now, well yeah here you go.

Face it baby; people have quirks, moods, idiocyncrascies and all. Things would be so boring otherwise. There are 'deep individuals' here. Not my fault you seem unable too look beyond the odd touch of negativity and truly get to know people before shooting your mouth off in judgement.

Nobody is perfect, but some can at least have to honesty to face it and the humility to understand and tolerate it in others. Obviously I've been here a fair while, and for the most part there are good souls here. Some asshole posts too, but meh such in life.

For what it's worth I have a very strong connect with myself. So am well aware that myself is not so fake idealised version of 'a true hippy' cooked up by someone who didn't even experience the decade (no shame in that, I didn't either). Too complicated for that, or any label.
Guess that's true of most people too, you just have to take or leave them.

 

What mystifies the shit out of me is why someone 18 years old would want to be a "hippie". I'm old enough (58) and was there in the Summer of Love in Haight-Ashbury. I was also in NYC for three years (66-68). I always considered myself more a "beatnik", and there's a LARGE difference.


Whatever.

Most of the hippies I saw and met were naive, drug-obscessed fools and ignoramuses. The ones who didn't die of drug overdoses or end up in prison or go wacky, GREW THE FUCK UP!

You wanting to be a " hippie" is as ridiculous as me at your age wanting to be a 20's style "flapper".

Everyone has their own time-- use it wisely.
