i have Grand Union, IGA, Price Chopper, Hannaford, Super K-Mart, The Walmart, mini chopper, Priceright, ALDI's....ummmmm, i think thats about it...
kroger. fucking monopoly. actually, there are a couple other places, but there's maybe one of each in the whole city, and a kroger practically at every major intersection.
i don't have any walmart supercenters where i live anymore. apparently californians hate walmart. safeway, raileys or however you spell it... and whole foods.
OMG you have an IGA! I use to have one and I was traumatized when it closed! I heart IGA! We have Super One. In the "city" we have Cub Food...
i used to shop at kroger when i was in virginia. it rocked. it was the only place we could really get any decent organic food.
walmarts (like 7 or 8 super centers), harps, price cutters (i work at one), dollar generals, sams club
winn-dixie,saveAot further out, publix, walmart, kmart, even further food lion, whole foods- and LOADS of produce stands and dollar stores in between-
We have Kroger, whole foods, HEB, Fiesta, Food town, Gerlands, walmart. there's a couple of foodlands, i dont consider that a chain. we also have meat market chains. those rock.
oh, wow. i forgot about fiesta mart. got one of those too. and foodmax. and a bunch of other places that seem kinda skeezy so i don't go in or really pay attention to them a lot.
I'm pretty rural so all we have are servo's. If we want to go grocery shopping we have to drive for about half an hour to get to any Woolies, Coles or IGA's etc.
Kroger, Marsh, Trader Joes, Meijer, I'm sure there's more but this is all I can think of at the moment...
Giant Eagle, FoodLand, Shop n' Save, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, There are some others but the only place I like shopping is the East End Food Co-op. That place is fucking amazing all local organic produce and it is run by volunteers. The best vegetarian section in the world (though I am no longer a vegetarian) and pretty much the most diverse group of customers of anywhere in town. I will go into giant eagle ocasionally just cause it is slightly closer than the food co-op
vons, albertsons, food maxx and heck i dont know them all. they are supposed to build a super walmart here, been sitting there for about 4 years. (lots of people bitching). Oh ya we have a traders joes.
super walmart sucks as far as food items. but superwalmarts always have better other stuff too. at least the one in virginia did. we used to get EVERYTHING (except food) at walmart... just cause there wasn't much of another place to get it... especially that was open at hours we are up, lol!
Their fruit sucks. They have super cheap prices on Kashi stuff, Ben and Jerry's, cereal, dog treats (event he all-natural kind) and decent wine. I got a bottle that I have never seen under 18 for 11.97 at super walmart. Plus we live in atown of 5k people (I moved from sand iego last year, so it's a shock). WalMart is the only grocery store in town that carries any whole grain and organic food. I usually go grovery shopping in Reno when I drive to the main office to turn in my case notes.
raley's/bel-aire, albertsons (or whatever they chainged the name to, sold to, spun off as, i forget what it is, as i almost always go to one of the bel aires), safeway, 7-11 (not a real store, but the milk is actually cheaper there), and (my favorite of all) trader joe's (yes its a chain, hdqtd in san diago if i'm not mistaken, with a 'hip gorment/yuppie sort of focus, but actually not at all, even a little bit, more expensive then the regular stores, they just carry more interesting stuff then most of the regular, major stores, usually do. SOME of it is a bit more expensive, but most of it isn't, somethings are even less, and most of them more or less organic or otherwise mostly good for you, or otherwise damd tastie! i mean this is the place where i can get mochi and green tea ice cream, and no fat cat cookies for people, best price on bree, and avacadoes, and so on. really my favorite place to grocery shop, but one of the bel-aires, the albertson's and the 7-11 are closer, both physically walking, and on the bus). i almost forgot, we have food4less's and big lots or whatever it is and of course there's food items at dollar tree too but all of these, other then the dollar tree, which is near where trader joe's is, are further away and harder if not impossible, to get to on the buss =^^= .../\...
