So there's this guy who walks around my city with a sandwich board which reads "END WORLD HUNGER". Sounds like a good cause! So one day I asked him, "Sure, how do I end world hunger?" he seemed kind of taken aback. He said, "ummm... vote for the right people." I said, "okay, who can I vote for that'll help end world hunger?" he said, "well, none of the current candidates are going to do it." I said, "Okay, if not by voting, how can I help?" He said he didn't know! He just sighed and cited that the world is very complicated and it's hard to make changes. Why was he carrying a sign again??
That's hilarious that he wants goverment to end world hunger. It will take people actually doing something to end world hunger, not politicians doing the back stroke in the money that supposed to go to fight hunger.
maybe he understands that it is not a simple issue and governments are not going to do it with out pepole asking them to? its very easy to forget about the crisises in the world if we are not reminded of them from time to time, even if he has no answers at least he is a reminder that there is a problem!
Holding a sign that says 'End world hunger' without really knowing how to do it...or at least how to help, isnt really 'doing something'...
at least he recognizes that there's a problem, and instead of doing something else like watching mainstream telivision and shopping at Walmart, he's actually aware of the fact that yes, there is a problem and people need to know, and its important enough to make a point of expressing.
Well, I guess it's a start, carrying the sign. But I do wish people would be more active in getting what they want done. Me being a teenager, I'm not sure what I can do but I'm atleast trying to figure that out.
Well for one, find other organizations that already exist and JOIN THEM! If you don't have the cash to send to them for donations and whatever, well...shit man, I don't know either. We're in a pretty pickle, aren't we. I'd say...find others who want to make change, and take to the streets. Pick on the mainstream media. When you see reporters outside covering ridiculous topics, stand behind them holding signs with messages that will wake the sleepwalking TV watchers up. Become a pain in the ass to the powers that be. HOUND THE MEDIA.
Think about it he has actually accomplished something. He made at least one person think about the issue from more than one direction. That's more than a lot of us ever do. I say "snaps" to him.
although he was a 'little' stuck when you asked questions (which i thought was a good idea from your behalf) .. atleast you can be sure it made someone FEEL towards world hunger, caused something in their heart to tick.. something in their mind to consider others for a moment instead of just themself because .. that's a start and it's closer than where we were before! remember to love everyone! bless that man.
