yeah what do you wish wasnt invented that would make life alot better or worse i just want to hear what ya got to say
hm, well, we could have skipped the whole agricultural revolution thing and it would have been nice to bypass the whole petroleum industry shabang too
i could come up with one hell of a list of these. and i LOVE tecnology. although i love it a bit selectively. if i had to put one item at the top of my list of what we'd be batter off if it hadn't been invented, i'd have to say the pocket watch. including its hier the wristwatch, and just about any other kind of 'chronometer' that's never metered a chrono and never will. other little items high on the list would of course, second only to clock, would be the private passinger automobile, not because the idea of personal mobility is neccessarily evil or anything like that, just all the real estate it's consuming, natural habitat it's destroying, wars being fought on the pretext of oil (all though there's a lot more then that going on behind the scenes), the power and corruption of oil money and so on. other items on the list briefly, chauvanistic beliefs, the 'financial services industry' which is still a confidence game by any other name. hierarchy. the idea that anything is or needs to be infallable. credit cards. one way mass media, like television, perfect for brainwashing the massess, precisely because visual presentations are so compelling while being nearly impossible to effectively talk back to. unlike this internet. which is why the media mentality so much fears, hates and wants to destroy it. that pretty much covers what is destroying and preventing the kind of world i'd rather be living in. although the circular illogic of trying to make everything have to begin and end with little green pieces of paper seems to be the primary motivatiion behind most of those thing being as harmful and suffering causing as they are. though i'm equaly sure any other economic idiology would be put to the same task if fanatical so called captalism didn't exist to do so. and that's not counting several other things that started out with the best of intentions and have ended up proving to be disasters. =^^= .../\...
im sorry but jealousy wasnt "invented" try again i mean if you would have said "aids" it would be a different story but jealous is a common emotion like sadness
that's actualy a close but no cigar. what wasn't invented was insecurity about personal relationships. but expressinging it in the form of jelousy, how much, often, and how violently, is largely a matter of cultural influence. cultural values of course more evolve then get invented, and no more often in the direction of greater collective mature then less. and it isn't a mater of biology or species, at least not among humans. nor is it universal among other creatures either. common perhaps, but by no means universal. even for that matter, among human cultures. i was actualy reacting to interval's reaction. somehow i inadvertantly quoted the origeonal quote instead. =^^= .../\...
possibly but by no means certain. at any rate we WOULD certainly be better off without it. =^^= .../\...
oh i agree with that. jealousy sucks.... and im not saying ive never gotten jealous- i have but its a total wasteful emotion
three things we would NOT be better off without are refrigeration, mechanical transportation OTHER then the automobile, and electrical energy NOT generated by any form of combustion. same goes for computers and the net. although if media takes over the net i know i'll almost certainly kiss it goodby. and opperating systems that insist on dictating how i run MY computer annoy and offend me no end. they make it nearly impossible to tell if you have a virus, because to me they damd near just as well ARE a virus. and of course media wanting to take over the net and those kinds of opperating systems we're stuck with to run today's applications are both motivated by that same circular illogic of trying to make everything have to begin and end with little green pieces of paper. aggressiveness, like jellosy, may not be an invention as such, but the 'cultural' inovation, and i'd swear it's vestedly politicaly motivated, of romantacising and rewarding it, if it isn't it's the next worst thing! and the same goes for gratuitous conventionality, which is NOT the same as indiginous conventionality AT ALL. and the pretense of 'normality' or even that there is, ever has been, ever could be, or ever will be, any such thing. =^^= .../\...
