I don't think it will become a police/martial law state like a lot of people say. I think the country will continue to get worse, both economically and freedom-wise, but I also see a lot of people would wake up, and there would be a massive movement forming. Obviously, we would stay in Iraq. Obviously, the country would get a lot worse. But I doubt that a full police state would form, unless the people finally decided that they have had enough of our government and corporate structure (which I doubt happening, although I could see a large number of people waking up to the truth) Anyway, let's hear your thoughts, on what you think would happen if Bush has a 2nd term.
I think it will be the same as if Kerry is elected. Kerry has no plans of leaving Iraq. And as far as I am concerned, the longer we stay in Iraq, the worse things are going to get both here and abroad. It doesn't matter if it's Kerry or Bush running things, not that Bush is even capable of running things. People think that if Kerry is elected, everything will automatically change for the better, and I frankly think that's kind of silly to say. Kerry is a Republican in Democrat's clothes anyway. Both Bush and Kerry can go fuck themselves for all I care. They both make me ill to even look at. Corporate pieces of dogshit is all they are in my book.
Consumer spending is at a two year peak, the GDP has grown 4% last year, and you say the economy is getting worse?
We'll be further mired in Iraq and whatever other country we may invade, and the rest of the world's contempt for us will continue to fester. The religious right will gain yet more power (very bad, in my book), as laws become more socially restrictive, and that douche Ashcroft stays in office. And of course the environment will suffer more... that's a brief summary of my main fears. Kerry won't bring a halt to the war, unfortunately, but he is more willing to cooperate with the international community than Bush. I don't know if Kerry will continue the abuse of stop-loss orders that Bush has done to "recycle" soldiers and keep them in Iraq for longer than they are contracted without an increase in pay. I'm not a Kerry fan, but I think it's a cop out to say there's practically no difference between Bush and Kerry, corporate stooges both they may be. Kerry won't extend the Patriot Act, and won't pander to the religious right. I think Kerry will help halt the socially conservative trend that they and the Bush administration have brought about.
Thanks, you summed up pretty much what I was getting at. The point I'm getting at, and have suggested many times before, is that we might as well keep Bush in office, because then all these 'activists' who are against him will continue their social progressive agenda, instead of saying "Oh, Kerry has won, our fight is over." Sometimes it requires a necessary evil in order to wake people up.
I couldn't agree more. Nothing will radicly change in both cases. At least, Kerry, will hopefully refrain from invading other countries... while, if Bush remains in office, eventually... North Korea and such will also be terrorists... But, hell, I look at it positively (from my perspective, at least), with Bush in office, Israel has stronger militaristic support, and can actually illiminate the terrorist threat to it.
The apocolpse is near. What've i got to fear? It's too late by now. Make the most of it, somehow. Both sides are just the same. Controlling is their game. We've been tricked so bad. It's time we had, Enough. But there's nothing we can do, We gave in way to soon. And now it is too late. Yet, life is great. Somehow. Try to live our lives in peace. Buy food and pay our lease. What else is there to do? We lost power over our lives. The sky is blue. ..... Basically.... we're pretty much fucked!
thank you... yes i did. I started a post and that thing came out. woops.that means a lot, thank you.... especially from God!
One Difference We MIGHT see is that if Kerry is Elected, the Economy MIGHT get better then if we were under Bush, because he believes in Taxing The Rich more than the poor (As opposed to Bush who believes in trickle down economics) the last time this was done was under clinton (And no matter what your opinion is of clinton, you HAVE to admit the economy was GREAT under this system). But other than that, there won't be much of a difference. Peace and Love, Dan
if Bush is reelected the country would sink even deeper in to debt and his administration would benefit even more. Just about everyone that holds a high office in the White House has stock options and interests in one or more of the top defence contractors. They all profit from war. No matter what Bush is going to be a rich man after leaving thw white house.
I just happen to be reading today that over half of that "4%" is due to inflation, and not much to do with the economy improving.
I would expect a serious effort by the government to bring back the Draft, which will certainly heat the coals under whatever resistance movement there is....
Actually I'm not too sure now whether Bush would reinstate the draft, and it's not just the political uproar that would entail. It's because Bush already has a much more discreet de facto draft in the abuse of the stop-loss orders, which is 'recycling' soldiers and 'volunteers,' essentially keeping them in Iraq long past what their contracts say, and without increased pay. Unless this bullshit practice is stopped, Bush will probably just stay with that so he avoids the scary word "draft."
Ok for the 100th time, the president has VERY little control over the economy. But if you are gonna say he ruined i have to disagree. The op 10% are taxed 36% while the middle class is taxed 15%, Bush cut taxes in both brackets, why should anyone who is selfmade rich have to pay twice as much as somone less sucessful?
when Bush runs out of soldiers with the stop loss orders, thats when I think he will seriously try to bring the draft back.
it would make sense to say that those who benefit from society the most (the rich), should have to pay the most. and once all these pissed off troops come home, they'd better direct their anger towards something positive, like reforming the system.
