What do you come here for?

How did you find the UK community here at hipforums and why do you post here?

 

I found it by clicking on the UK bit, and suprise suprise here I am.

What am I looking for ? Who knows, a way to cure sunday afternoon nothingness perhaps ?

 

I dunno, just bumbled into this part of the site and realized the majority of the more interesting threads are here!

 

These days, just to see how the mighty have fallen.

Yeah it got quieter about a year ago. I'm sure we've had talks about why that was. It picked up again for a while but now we're quiet again. People come and go.

I found hipforums on the (now defunct I think) Google Directory.

I post here for the community spirit which I try to contribute to,
though everyone has their off days.

I found this place nine years ago. or to be more precise, two guys I was friends with found it. One of them was having a hippy beat poet phase, and found the Hipforums through Google.

They both ended up joining. One guy made around four posts, the majority of which you can find in his only thread.

The other guy stayed around a while longer. Some of the Hipforums veterans may remember Josie.

I was in a stage where I was slowly de-linking myself from them, I guess, so I didn't join with them. In fact, the only reason I joined was because I'd bought an LP player from Cash Convertors and it wasn't working. My first thread is right here. I eventually found the UK section and ventured in, and ended up staying around for a while. I gained popularity by writing a few daft things, encouraged Josie to come back (he'd stopped posting because he felt he was being ignored) and I've been here since.

Why do I continue to post here? I've been here for years, I've made countless friends and been all over the country thanks to this forum. I've loved people from here, in most of the different definitions of the word. I've found myself in all sorts of weird situations and I've been introduced to all sorts of ideas and philosophies. I can spend ages viewing the forum archives and remembering the places I've been thanks to this place. It's a decent place filled with mostly decent people, and it doesn't deserve a fate of dying slowly from lack of use just because someone threw a shit-fit and started banning people for disagreeing with him.
