Ethics, rationalization of personal actions, and morality have a range of acceptability in people going from the socially criminal to the Victorian. Without going to these extremes, what can be said here regarding a truly rational assessment of what is morally right, and conversely, what would be immoral filth?

Anybody have insight? I doubt everyone of the window shoppers in here are just California floaters.

Anything that directly brings another person to emotional or physical harm would be immoral in my books. If something is done with consent that wasn't forced consent than it is moral.

How many people have contracted AIDS, or other incurable STDs, when involved in mutual consent? Did they experience "emotional or physical harm?"

Depends what both parties new. if neither new that the other was infected then its not immoral. Thats more like an accident. morality is about why you did what u did, not what u did in itself.

For instance if John had sex with Joe or Jane and knew he had a std but did it anyway then that was an immoral act.

Immorality depends on the morals really. Today's immoral filth is tomorrow harmless deviance, just as yesterday's routine behaviour is today's quiet shame.

I don't think anything that causes harm, emotional or physical, is by necessity immoral. Didn't we all grow up being chided for not respecting those who died for our freedom? Why shouldn't we die for the freedom of future generations?

    what is a California floater?
The tone and topic of your post and it being in the gay section suggests to me that you are subversively linking that being gay is immoral filth. That is my take on it anyway.
Go look in the mirror and stop hiding you coward.

Immoral Filth? I say it’s just disgusting dirt that goes contrary to accepted moral principles.

Patrick, I appreciate your concern, I can't figure this one out either. Maybe the original poster wants to discuss how immorally filthy religous superstitions are when they interfer with other peoples lives. I can think of little that is more immoral than some religous freak trying to insert their value on my life.

I'm guessing it's someone else who wants to object to gays definitely absolutely censoring his right to free speech by saying things that can only be interpreted as offensive or total nonsense, but you're not quite sure which.

What makes you think that accidental transmission of STDs is not immoral?

    Yarap,

Did you know it is not possible for anyone to "insert their value" on anyone's life? Where did you get that foolish idea, anyway?

Um... I'm not suggesting that they come from anywhere other than the most obvious source, dude. They're human, thus every bit as fallible as humans. They survive by virtue of dominance (usually numerical, but not always), over-zealousness, over-dilligence, etc. They wither when people stop giving a shit, when they stop "letting" people get on with their lives and realise that it's not their place to "let" others do these things, that interjection into another person's life is a privilege, not a right, and should only ever be used accordingly. Mass morals, what one might call "natural morals", tend not to reflect this.

I'm gonna lock this thread because it's pointless. The original post was a troll, now banned. Guess we'll never know what a california floater is...pity
