so this is kind of gross, to me at least, but: about 3 months ago I started developing body acne. Its just on my shoulders, chest and back. Nowhere else.. Ive never EVER had a zit on my body before. What can i do to reduce/stop these? I mean, i eat healthy, im active... all that basic stuff. I know i shouldnt care so much, but they really gross me out. I always feel like people are staring at my back, even though i know (hope) they arent!! HELP!
Have you recently started using a different kind of soap, or body lotion, or fabric softener? These things could definitely do that. Just an idea......... ~peace
I've had body acne my whole life, and yeah, it's a bitch. Mine's far far worse than yours could ever be, so don't worry. Do you go in the sun alot? The sun seems to clean it up alot. If you don't regularly go in the sun, you can talk to your doctor about retin-a-micro. It worked wonders for me, but it clashed with my outdoor lifestyle, so I stopped using it(you can go out in the sun w/ the medicine on) good luck
after it started i switched to an acne body soap, but i dont like it, so im back to my dr bronners like i always have used. i dont think the detergent or softener is any different, and i rarely use lotion- just sunblock. (and its not new) no diet changes, no nothin and yeah, im ouside a lot. not as much this summer as usual, but enough that the sun gets these areas, and too much to use any of those creams. Thanks for the suggestions, though!
do be careful about the kind of soap you use. most bar soaps sold in the store are not soap, they are detergent. i don't know about dr. bronners, i'm thinking from what i've heard of it that it might be one of the good ones, but check out the ingredients list, if it looks like it's all chemicals, go find another to try. even bigger chain stores should have something. also, see if there is any fragrance oil in it, some people are really sensitive to stuff with any fragrance oils in it. they make laundry soaps that are specifically for people with sensitive skin ~ that might work. and if you have long hair, make sure you keep it up off your shoulders as much as you can, that could help, too.
you could try using a shower gel with tea tree oil in it, it's supposed to be good for acne and skin conditions. I used tea tree facial wash for years and I rarely get spots (I had horrible skin when I was younger) so I expect it would be good for body acne too.
Dr Bronner's changed to hemp oil in the past 3 years, and some stores still have both on the shelves. Compare the bottles. Hemp is a heavy oil and could be a bit too much for your skin. My spouse gets back acne really bad and only salt scrubs help. (salt and DrB's) Sarahstar, Dr B's is soap, not detergent.
ive never used it myself and have never actually seen it ~ but i've heard it referred to as natural soap a few times, so that's what i assumed
yep. The bottles are a hoot, if you shower with reading glasses! Ingredients: water, saponified coconut, hemp & olive oils(with retained glycerine), olive fatty acids, peppermint oil and rosemary extract.
ah dont worry about it, i have it on my chest, back, and shoulders, all the way down to my butt, nothing i've found is too much of an imporovement for my back, but what makes me more comfortable about it is that both my older brothers have it worse than i do and they always walk around with just shorts on, my sister doesnt have it at ALL! (lucky lucky her) and my two oldest brothers (different dad) had it on their face when they were my age. i guess it runs in the family!
i used to have it like you on my back and now its clearing up a lot. Teas tree is the only thing id recomend, dont use any anti-spot washes, they are just chemicals, bring you out in more spots. It could be a newly formed allergy sometimes your body does that. Just get ur back out in the sun and the scars from the spots will fade and the sun will help clear the spots.
the suns helping a bit. i dont really care that much, but its summer so its all tank tops and apron tops and i feel a little self concious now and then of 'jeez, theres nastiness all over my shoulders' but.. meh i cant go without my bronners (gotta love that minty fresh tingle) so hopefully between the sun and drinking more water itll clear up for the summer. thanks for all your help guys!! and with the tea tree oil, ive seen it in stores but it never has directions... do i just dab it on or is there more to it?
