what are you drinking tonight?

i started off splitting a bottle of blanche de chambly with a friend, then i split a bottle of samuel smith's taddy porter with her.

finishing up the night with a bottle of maudite for myself....

actually, ended up finishing with a bottle of maudite for myself AND a bottle of samuel smith's winter welcome ale for myself...ended up feeling not so hot this morning, but it's ok....it was all delicious and i was pretty drunk at the end of the night

 

sounds like some good drinkin with you....

unfortunately tonight i'm drinkin some nasty steel reserve beer.....:&

usually thou i enjoy some jack daniels single barrell....

simply molson dry 5.5%, nothing more simple.

tonight i'm going for a bottle of la fin du monde, giving it a second chance. i'm sure this time round i'll love it, because i adore the blanche de chambly, the maudite, and the don de dieu.....

only stands to reason i'm going to love this as well....

LOL I DONT ACTUALLY HATE IT, BUT I'LL NEVER BUY IT AGAIN I DRANK IT EVERY NIGHT FOR OVER A WEEK AND GREW TIRED OF IT, IM JUST STAYING WITH THE SAINT RED ALE AND THE PRIVATE RESERVE. SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE LIKES THE DEAD GUY, I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS THAT GREAT BUT NOW IT'S LIKE THE ONLY ONE I CAN FIND BESIDES JUNIPER ALE AND MOCHA PORTER. I NEVER HAD THEYR IPA THOUGH, IS IT GOOD?

 

Dude, those dead guys go 5.25 for a 24 oz around here relayer, one of my tree fiend friends mentioned it out of the blue to me, and i was like hahaha wow

 

damn, but still, thats not TOO pricey....

i've been drinking unibroue beers a lot very recently, which is starting to hurt the old wallet, as they cost about 7 bucks for a 750ml (~25.4 fl oz.) bottle. luckily most of their beers are pretty strong, so i've been getting 8-9% ABV beers....at least that way i can get decently buzzed off of just one bottle....

tonight is another romance with a bottle of don de dieu

Vodka with aniseed, sage and wormwood with lemonade. Nice and mind numbing

 

Tonight, I am drinking Hop Wallop, an outstanding Imperial (Double) IPA by Victory Brewing Co. It's not only potent in terms of its massive hop character, but its mind-numbing 8.5% alcohol content as well. Definitely an ass-kicking beer in more ways than one!

 

Strong beer....respect.

What do you think of Coopers Pale Ale (or the lesser known sparkling which is stronger and superior)? Seeing as you're a beer expert I'd like to know how my home state's best beer goes down with you.

 

Coopers makes some fine beers. I've never had their pale ale. I've only had their sparkling ale and their extra stout, both of which are decent beers. Unfortunately, when most people think of Australian beer, they think of Foster's, which is piss in a can. It's no better than mass-produced American swill, only higher priced. Coopers, on the other hand, is quality beer. It's very hard to find in the states, however. The only place in my area that sells Coopers is a local beer store in which I frequent, where it is rather pricey.

 

I like the little story on the side of those bottles, I remeber reading it once!

 

hey rat, that beer looks and sounds good....about how much does it generally run for a six pack?

until recently if someone mentioned beer in the ranges of 8-11% alcohol i'd think they were probably talking about malt liquor or something, and i'd pretty much lose any possible interest right then....but recently learning more about fine beers and enjoying some very good strong beers, i've become more interested in stronger beers meant for sipping rather than just chugging a forty...

i'm particularly interested in trying an imperial stout, but haven't had the opportunity yet. sadly i dont actually turn 21 till june.

anyway, what are some good strong beers that you could recommend? i'd like to explore this further.
