from a co-owner of several hippie jamband friendly venues here in Denver. Nice Clear Channel dig, too!:
    Phil at Dulcineas

so here is my recap of this once in a lifetime experience. made
it down to Dulcinea's after getting a phone call that Phil Lesh
was on stage with Ryan Adams. I didn't really believe it, but
went anyway just in case. Sure enough I walked into Dulcinea's
and everyone was chanting Not Fade Away, I made my way to the
front and Phil was sitting on a stool with Ryan Adams next to him
playing Jerry Garcia's "wolf" guitar that apparantly is the first
time it's been played since Jerry. Everyone was sitting indian
style in front of the couches and a lady was painting to the
left who was painting there earlier in the evening and decided
might was well paint another one when Phil Lesh was there.

what happened as many of you have heard is the power went out at
the Fillmore, clear channel not paying their electric bill
probably, so Ryan suggested they go get a drink at the bar across the
street. So Phil Lesh walks into Sanchos and plays pool for an
hour while admiring all the dead memorabilia. One of my friends
happened to be playing when Phil walked up and asked if he could
play. this kid is 24 years old but knew who Phil Lesh was and
said "shit your Phil Lesh!". so he played him and Ryan Adams,
partners, beat him three games in a row. Phil was saying that
Sanchos was like a trip down memory lane. Then he and Ryan were
talking about how they still wanted to play. They were going to
play right there at Sanchos but when Jay caught wind of all this
he suggested they check out the place next door that had a stage
and PA. Phil and Ryan agreed and everyone that happened to be
in the right place at the right time and everyone they called on
their cell phones headed over to
    Dulcineas.

when I walked in the energy was unbelievable. being in that
intimate of an environment with someone like Phil Lesh was unreal.
I was speechless and stood there with tears of joy in my eyes.
The place was full but with everyone sitting down on the floor
in front it made for a perfect setting for this dream to take
place. Everyone had smiles of disbelief as Phil and Ryan played

He's Gone, NFA, Wharf Rat, St Stephen, Franklins Tower

Ryan Adams was reading most of the lyrics off notes from a chair
in front of him, but he was tearing into the vocals with emotion
that would have made Jerry proud. honestly I don't know much
about Ryan Adams, heard a little, but I really enjoyed what he was
doing this night. He has a powerful soulful voice and I like
his style of guitar. Phil sang plenty as well throughout the
show. Hearing his distinct bass lines and voice from 10 feet away
in this intimate setting was surreal. I really felt like I was
in a dream as I had had similar ones before. It was 1:30 and
they took off their guitars. I thought they were done. After all
this was a rehearsal. They stepped out the back door for a
minute and came back and proceeded into

Ripple, Friend of the Devil, Stella Blue, Shakedown Street til
    about 2:30 am.

whoa. I was pretty sure it was real at this point. One of the
most amazing nights I have experienced. First Dave Schools at
Quixote's til 7 am now Phil Lesh at Dulcinea's with Ryan Adams.
    I feel lucky and blessed.

    Scott
