times change...music in the mainstream mostly sucks, but some of the less known musicians around now have made some of the best music i have ever heard in my life.

those artists of the 60's/70's had their time

    Well...I don't know about those last 6.

Otherwise The Mars Volta is badass. Animal Collective is also some good listening.

Know what is awesome, being able to pick out things in contemporary songs that either intentionally or by accident, sound like one of the inovating bands of the 60's. For example, the backwards guitar solo from The Ladies and Gentlemen's song "Thew It All Away" ( you can listen to it here http://www.myspace.com/theladiesandgentlemen to see what I mean). It sounds like it is right off revolver.

But yeah, new music is awesome...

I'm not saying it's bad... just started going downhill since the 80s in the rock scene. This "music" genre we call "Rap & Hip Hop" started gaining popularity.

naw, everynow and then there is something that isnt that inspiring, and just really commercial. Poptarts and singing groups of the 90's (but they are just like mowtown, so really can't say anyhitng horrible against them except that they were products and less musical than the originators like smokeyrobinson and the temptations and such). the 70's had disco, which was sort of on the same level as the 90's stuff in terms of hindsight

My Morning Jacket is good even though their new album is a little bit on the Radiohead side and I despise Radiohead but it's still good.

Macca just put out an album not too long ago which was really really fuckin good too, I didn't think he still had it in him.
