When it comes to puberty were you an "early bloomer" or a "late bloomer"? Or in between? And how did it affect you growing up? i am definitely a late bloomer. i just turned 15 a month and a half ago and i am the only one of my friends who doesn't have boobs. well, i do but they are pretty much just two bumps in a training bra. i still have not had my first period either. Guys and even girls tease me about it. Sitting by helplessly as my friends got boobs and stuff in the 5th and 6th grades has really done a number on myall ready low self esteem! heck, i didn't even start getting pubic hair until 13.[IMG] I try to avoid shopping with my friends because i still shop in the little girls section. As you can imagine i also try to avoid any situation that requires a swimsuit. life as a teenager has not been easy.

One of my friends said she was an early bloomer and she was the first in her class to have to wear a bra and got her period in fourth grade or something like that. She said i had it better but i don't know about that. i would gladly switch places. Guess it's true the grass is always greener on the other side eh? i know, i know, my body will develop in good time and i just need to be patient. i guess i just needed to vent a little bit and this place seemed as good as anywhere. :) thanks for listening!

Hey, boobs aren't everything. Don't take it to heart when people make fun of you. It's okay to be a late bloomer. And periods really, really suck. For me, and alot of other ladies, anyway. They are painful. And raging hormones aren't that much fun either...so enjoy your child-likeness as long as you can ;)

Treat it as a blessing to not have your period yet. I've had mine for 6 years :ack: I know that's not long to people older than me, but hey, I'm only 17 ;) My boobs are on the small side, so it's almost like they've always been there haha. I guess I got them around the same time as my period. I wish I could say I was a late bloomer.

think about that girl, I know you know one like her, who had big boobs by the sixth grade. Think about how the other kids in school treated her. If she wore a bra, everyone said it was stuffed, if she didn't wear a bra, they picked on her about needing one. Remember that curvy women tend to be plumper, and sometimes have a hard time with being overweight. Remember that many women have painful menstrual periods, and be very glad that you don't have one yet. Early puberty is a sign of too much estrogen, which very often leads to (or is caused by, nobody knows which comes first) endometriosis, which is incurable and causes lots of women incapacitating pain, not always just with their periods, but sometimes chronic pain every day of their lives.

I was SUCH an early bloomer. Got my period in fourth grade, and by the time I reached middle school (6th grade) I was already wearing a 38C bra. Like the two posters above me said, I went through hell with it. I was teased and pushed around, and called a whore and a slut becuase I had a big chest and missed a few days of school every month becuase my period was so bad at 11 and 12 I couldn't get out of bed. The first memory I have of 6th grade is an 8th grader coming up, grabbing my boobs and being lke "hey, you know what, for such a little girl you got some big tits!" and being constantly bothered by him and his gang of friends that entire year. People make fun of you if you have big boobs/everything else if you bloom early, people make fun of you if you have no boobs/everything else and bloom late. I would have LOVED to wait another couple years, or even more to start all that. And on top of that, I went through puberty SO fast. My boobs went from non-existant to a C so quickly that it hurt so bad, and now becuase they grew so fast they're saggy already, and I'm only 16... And I've already gone through enough period problems to last me a lifetime.

Be thankful for what you have, and know things will change. People are gonna get teased in high school, no matter how early/late you went through everything. It'll be alright...

FunnyValentine don't feel bad or feel like you're the only flat-chested person on the planet~lots of hollywood celebraties are also and some of them are considered sexy. While I was in high school I had a T-shirt that said "Itty Bitty Titty Committee" and actually wore it to school a few times.

i was 10 when i got my period and started to develope breasts. i dont know if that is early or average. but by age 13 i was lugging around 36 c size breasts and it was so embarassing.fourth through sixth grade i was very "athletic" and got called names alot because of how broad my shoulders were and how athletic i was. i was called gladiator girl and brittany shittney and so and so forth because of my chest was bigger than most other girls and all. well i learned to deal with it and pretty much told any one who made fun of me to go fuck off and stop being so insecure about how they look and taking it out on me. the teasing stopped and i got to go through middle school without being bothered or teased by anyone.

i hit puberty hard and fast in the 5th grade. my life was a living hell. i had the mind of a young 10 year old, but the body of a ripe 16 year old. all the boys were trying to get me into a closet for a grope, as well as grown men. the girls called me a slut or a whore and didn't want me around. i couldn't so much as play fooseball or handball with a boy without everyone saying that i was pregnant or some such bullshit. i've hauled these massive bitches around for 20+ years, and for only 10 of those years was i okay with it. and all the girls who called me fat (when i never was) because of huge boobs are now so firmly packed with breast implants that they're tottering over. don't envy the early bloomers. they've got it rough.

I was an A cup when I was 10, got my period when I was 11. I was constanly teased by guys and I hated it. I stayed an A cup until I was 13 and then in less than a week I became a C cup. It hurt like hell and everyone said I got implants. And yes like flowerchild17 mine started sagging early. Be happy you don't have large breasts or your period. It's not fun, and the sexual harassment tends to get worse.

My breasts started developing when I was 9, my period started when I was 11. I got teased too...at 11, I looked like I was 16. And, I hated that all the older men seemed to think I was "fair game" for harrassing because I was an early bloomer. Some of them, (friends of family) knew I was only 11-12 yrs. old.

and even if you're skinny, the bitches call you fat just because you've got breasts and hips.

Exactly! I'm chubbier now, but back then I was nothing but boobs and ass. I never got hips though... which is odd, because everyone else in my family did early, but meh, it's a lot easier to find pants that fit (around the waist, anyway) so I'm not gonna complain about that...

yeah, i am the opposite i guess. I have the mind of a 15 year old, but i have the body of a 10 year old. i just want to be treated like the young lady i am!! I figured that at least with early bloomers at least the other gilrs eventually caight up and they would get their growing out of the way. i've just been like this for so long you begin to question whether there is something wrong with you, you know? Even my lil sis has boobs. [IMG] i have serious complex about it. lol HOWEVER after hearing your stories about being an early bloomer i take it all back about wishing i was early! i guess you did not have it so easy after all. that sounded terrible for all of you. sorry...

i seemed to be right on time, nobody said anything anyway, even though i've always had a small-er chest, i got pubic hair and a big ol butt right on time with other girls, but i didn't get my period until i was 14. i also always looked younger... still kind of do, so it isn't a terrible thing.

my little sis got her period when she was barely 11 and it was early... she didn't even know what was going on really. she's always been kind of broad, but now her boobs are bigger than mine (she's 14 and a C cup now) i don't think she got teased though... she looks average, especially since she's in highschool now .

I was inbetween. I had large boobs for a 10 yr old (B/C cup), but I didn't get my period until I was about 14.

Even though I was super, super skinny, I started developing breasts around 9 years old. I had a really difficult time dealing with that fact, and would actually tape my budding breasts down in an attempt to appear flat-chested, or wear three shirts layered on top of one another to make my breasts seem less obvious. Why did I do this? Because at the time, none of my friends had really developed, and yet there I was...I still felt like a little girl, but I had a hard to accepting the changes my body was going through, and it made me feel ashamed. Plus the boys at school liked to tease me, they'd snap my bra straps if I walked past, or just say things like "oooooh, she's getting boobs!" and it made me feel sick, humiliated. I hated it.

I started getting pubic hair not long after (which I started taking a razor to because I felt afraid of the changes I was going through), and I started my period at the age of 11. That too, was extremely difficult for me. Most of my friends didn't start theirs until they were 12, 13 years old.

Funny thing is, my breasts aren't all that large for having developed so early. You'd have thought they'd be bigger. ;)

yeah, even when the other girls catch up or even surpass you, you've still been labelled a fat stupid slut and that's that. it's pretty shitty. don't worry, every girl becomes a woman eventually. you may never develop large breasts. you may be one of those girls destined for a small chest, but you know something? MEN LOVE IT. don't knock it. women mainly get huge implants for each other and those mindless slobs who think tits are a status symbol.

valentine, do you have pubic hair and underarm hair? If not, you may want to see a doctor, as it might be a hormonal or pitiutary problem. It probably ISN'T this, but usually docs start watching you at 15 if you are normal weight and don't menstruate, or have "secondary sexual characteristics." My second dd didn't get her period until 15, she has been a late bloomer with EVERYTHING. She's 18 now, and busing out of a D cup bra, when at your age, she looked like a little girl.

Have your mom take you to the doctor (if you want a female doc, let her know, I always let my kids choose, although, I myself prefer male doctors) so the doc can check you out. Usually, if you are developing secondary characteristics (pubic and body hair, some breast buds, a little acne) they will leave you alone until 16 or so.

When do you turn 16? Chances are you are just "late" but, if you have no sexual characteristics, and are of normal weight, it is a good idea to see a doctor. :)
