I haven't been doing yoga for long, but I practice very often. I have been practinsing a lot at home as I haven' got much money, only with the help of really good ashtanga dvd that I bought right when i started.

This morning i had a really good practice, i felt so good, for a moment it felt as if my body was very light and my movements were slow, delicate and everything made sense to me at that moment. I realised i was really concentrated and i got a little freaked out so I sort of came back to normal while my heart started beating faster.

It was a very pleasant sensation and despite freaking out a little, i managed to complete my practice normally, but feeling really "high" and relaxed.

could anyone explain what happened and if it's normal to feel a bit spaced out when you are doing yoga.

it's ok, happens me also. That is real yoga (it takes some time before we realize that yoga isn't some kinda stretching exercise, it plays with energies, that is what yoga is all about...........)

oh yes, but wow! it's such a great feeling...definitely more than a few stretches...it was right from within.

If I'm thinking about the same thing as what you're talking about, I call it 'subtle ecstasy.' It's like this feeling that takes attention/energy and even effort to feel. It's like it tingles up my spine like... it makes me think of the light patterns on the ground below clear water like on the sand in the ocean, or in the bathtub, or in a pool, except rippling up my core... it's so exciting!
